In 2017, people wanted Tee. After the debacle of Currie and his ever so public offers and denials, I specifically remember threads and posts saying bring Tee home. At that point, we would have taken anyone. Why are people saying they wouldn’t give Tee a shot now? He would have beaten Georgia st IMO
Good Tennessee Football is dead, but, Tennessee football has turned into a social event, The Vol Navy, Tail-gating, seeing/catching up with friends etc., far too many of UT fans don't really care if we win or not, as long as their social outing was successful, they're as happy as can be. Sure most would rather win, but if not, no big deal-it's about the event, not the game.Tennessee football is dead
To quote Paul Kuharsky, "That's not true!"Why would Hugh Freeze even get a cup of coffee? He was just okay at Ole Miss.
To quote Paul Kuharsky, "That's not true!"
Ole Miss had won 34 games in the seven years prior to Freeze being hired - and only 28 of those are recognized by the NCAA because six had to be forfeited due to violations by Houston Nutt. So they had a 39% winning percentage in those seven years; five out of those seven years they lost eight or more games, including losing ten of their twelve in Nutt's last year, which eventually became twelve out of twelve after the forfeiture.
So Freeze took over that rarest of phenomenons in all the history of college football, a phenomenon so rare that the pumpers would tell us it doesn't even exist: a program that was in worse shape - shudder at the thought, poor BVLs! - than we are right now...
And all he did was lead them to a bowl game in his first season coaching there, and a #3 ranking in his third year. He also beat Bama two years in a row.
But yeah, he didn't accomplish anything our current coach hasn't already done here.
What's the difference between these two things: a coach named Houston Nutt and one named Hugh Freeze? Both got violations; one landed top-five recruiting classes and beat Bama, and one just kept on losing.Over half of Freeze’s SEC wins were vacated by the NCAA. He left a mess, too.
Refer to my other post above about his incredible win-loss percentages.
