The Team Cleveland Is Putting On The Floor Right Now...

The Hornets' pre-Chris Paul had a few awful rosters.
Incredibly dumb statement.

03-04: 5th seed in the east
02-03: 5th seed in the east
01-02: 4th seed in the east
00-01: 6th seed in the east
99-00: 4th seed in the east
97-98: 4th seed in the east
96-97: 5th seed in the east

Yes, a team consistently making the playoffs as a 4-6 seed is comparable to the **** the cavs are throwing out on the court.

That's just never really computed with me. But I suppose it's the way it is, LA, SA, Portland, OKC, NYC, Utah and maybe Orlando are the only towns I can think of where the NBA team is the premier thing in town no matter how they're doing. Everywhere else it's 2nd fiddle to something else, unless the team is doing really well.
The Knicks could win five straight titles and they'd still be behind the Yankees and Giants in the minds of New York sports fans.

You're right. The 04-05 team was a monster with Nailon and Dickau leading it.

Just look at Jordan. Jordan fans (and inherently, Bulls fans) were everywhere. Once he left, no one outside of Chicago cared about the Bulls.

This. Once Jordan left and that Bulls dynasty squad all went away, I didn't really watch the NBA. I really only watch now to keep up with the Grizzlies and watch LeBron.

The end of the season prior.
Injuries do not equal lack of talent and even with the injuries they were still .500 and made the playoffs. That team had two all-stars even without Mashburn. I will give you 04-05 but putting the 03-04 Hornets team anywhere near this Cavs team is absurd.

We blow. We absolutely blow. It's nothing short of embarrassing and pitiful.

1-26 in the last 27, and 16 losses in a row overall.

A lottery pick to use on (Ohio native) Jared Sullinger would be nice. But even outside of that, there's a decent amount of dead weight currently on the roster; there's a lot of guys who have never been (and never will be) anything but support players being asked to carry the load.

The Cavs are obviously improving. They held the Nuggets to 70 in the first half this time around.

Question for you. Would you say that, in assessing players and prospects in basketball, that court vision and basketball IQ are more important than most physical aspects?

In hockey, which is similar in the sense of having set plays that can quickly break down and become an improv-fest, I believe that vision and IQ are more important than having a slightly better shot or skating ability. I'm of the opinion that a smarter player can overcome a slight height differential through better positioning, or a slightly poorer shooter can compensate by knowing when to drive, when to pull up, or when to pass.

It's really, really hard to be an impact player in the NBA if you aren't a phenomenal athlete. Look at the greats in the league now and across history. Very, very few of them aren't incredible physical talents.

Vision and understanding of the game are very important. However, it can only make up so much of a difference in pure physical ability.

Not sure if i've ever seen a team in any sport is who is so lazy looking, and could careless about playing or winning for that matter.

Was Larry Bird a phenomenal athlete? Honest question, he was before my time. All I have seen were tapes showing he had a great shooting stroke and high IQ

Athleticism really comes out with one on one defense where Bird was always a bit weak. Not Steve Nash bad, but definitely not great. But he played solid team d. So, no, he wasn't. Obviously he made up for it with intelligence and leadership in spades.
