The stupidity of Team Nico

Spyre will counter if they Nico’s camp is dumb enough to sue. He blew off numerous obligations in the contract. Now I’m sure he had “reasons “ for missing but he’s blown off multiple autograph sessions, media interviews, etc. There’s a chance they come out with even less money if they sue Spyre. On Tennessee’s end, white doesn’t strike me as being unprepared for anything and they knew these people were becoming a pain in the ass so I imagine a lawsuit would go very poorly for Nico.
Doubtful that any legal action will be filed by team nico - it is very expensive to bring any law suit especially one involving nil and/defamation. And would just make team nico look even more like a pariah.

What’s also fascinating is that as much as it is a “pay for play” situation, the funding base is still on name, image and likeness. It’s not whether “the school” has the money for it. The collectives are funded by donors and business owners that want to be associated with the player. So if the collectives don’t want to be associated with that players name/image/likeness, then the the $$ won’t be there for the “pay to play.”

Huge screw up by Nico’s advisors.

You could say that greed brought him here (he would have gone to Oregon, otherwise) and it also drove him away.

Madden Iamaleava wound up at Arkansas despite having never visited Fayetteville before he signed with them. He had been committed to UCLA.

The Iamaleava's are all about the Benjamin's.

The family was in Fayetteville when we played them.

I dunno about Madden, but I would wager pops was doing the negotiating while he was in town.......

I would LOVE Nico to blow through whatever he has in his piggy bank on a frivolous lawsuit.

Reality is that there are more than a few desperate attorneys who would take the case on a contingency basis. I wouldn't discount the fairly small time guy who decides it's time for him to make a play to be king of the ambulance chasers as well.........Saul Goodman come on down.

In short, a lawsuit against at least Spyre is pretty much unavoidable. I can't really think of much he could sue UT for without being laughed out of court. That is assuming of course we have kept our hands clean and kept the school and NIL fund separate legally.

The mud slinging will get worse probably the more desperate they get. Best thing is for this kid to distance himself from his father as far as business going forwards. I’m not sure Nico is completely innocent either but his dad has proven to be a complete moron; the “agent” they had is distancing himself from this fiasco now as well.
There is no scenario where Nico is completely innocent. Regardless of what anyone else was doing, telling him, etc, he was the one who no showed practice without letting the coaches know. He is also the one who didn't respond to attempts from coaches to contact him. He was also the one who informed the coaches of his intention to hit the portal via a text message. All of that is squarely on him.

The latest excuse that he had a dental appointment the day of walk through practice is pretty hilarious.
It wouldn't matter if that was true. If he didn't didn't bother letting the coaches know he wasn't coming and then ignored their attempts to contact him, it wouldn't matter if he was getting knighted by the queen of England.

Has now decided it sounds good to say they requested Heupel change his offense for Nico. Really? A UPS guy knows more FB than Josh Heupel? That should really make other coaches run from bringing this **** show in.

I know there’s a dialogue out there about the offense & NFL. I content CJH hasn’t really had NFL talent other than Lock, maybe Hooker. Did EdO system at LSU make Burrow? No. Joe Burrow made Joe Burrow. Their OC that year, Joe ?, has been a bust everywhere else in the NFL. Did Cut make the Manning boys or vice versa. If it was Cut, why didn’t Clausen, Ainge, Martin or Daniel Jones have success in the NFL? Who besides the Manning’s have been successful QBs that Cut coached? Why is Mahomes so good but his college coach has been so bad elsewhere until he found Jaylon Daniels?

I can’t see if a QB can’t make the reads fast enough in a college system, he could go & be trained to secede in the NFL where the must be faster due to athletes, especially DBs & Lbs are far superior.

There’s a lot of truth about “it’s Jimmies & Joes, not Xs & Os”.
I will say that Cut was very well thought of in the pro ranks and many teams went to him for consultation about quarterbacks. He knew how to make quarterbacks better.

This is simply not true. “Contingency” lawyers primarily handle personal injury, med mal, property damage and employment cases - not NIL - amateur sports related contract cases.

As a character in a movie once said “you know not of what you speak!

The difference is that I actually know what I am speaking (posting) about.

The key word in your post being primarily......

NIL is fairly new. Just because no ambulance chaser has done it before doesn't mean it will not happen.

I could be wrong, but I would be willing to bet the family digs up some sleezy dude for a lawsuit against Spyre.

If I'm wrong, then so be it and no worries whatsoever.

Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava enters NCAA transfer portal, has do not contact tag

I'm really starting to think that papa Nic may have some serious mental health issues. They have a do not contact tag on him in the portal. All reports are that teams are walking away. I'm really having trouble believing that he has someone lined up at the money they are asking. Im wondering if this isn't another deception by papa nic to make it look like he has got something in the works to generate interest rather than get realistic with the price....further hurting his chances.

It’s all a game to make it appear as if they had a team lined up and knew what they were doing the entire time. There’s no need for a no contact tag because other than mountain west and mid conference teams no one is reaching out to this kid. Big Nic ain’t so slick.

Plus difficult to prove. Defamation of character would constitute things being said that weren’t true to hurt his reputation. Heupel nor the university said anything to hurt his name other than “we are moving on without him”. All of the other speculation is likely true but is being spread by reporters and fans.

It's most likely a bluff IMO... that's all they ever do is bluff, like a degenerate at a high-stakes poker table. Problem is, papa Nic thinks he's good at it, when in reality the entire poker table knows exactly what cards he is holding (and it ain't a winning hand).
Papa Nic to take over tariff negations incoming!

Well you are wrong. I been practicing law for almost 30 years in Tennessee and Georgia.

Again “you know not of what you speak.”
