Some of you may remember the thread I made a several years ago for Butch's tenure. I abandoned that pretty quick after we re-started many of the same streaks we broke in 2014-2016. Then I made another a few years ago for the Pruitt era. That did not go over well either.

Here we go again. Heupel and the Vols have had such an impressive run so far, and the biggest streak of all (Bama) was just broken last night. Time for The Streak Buster Thread III !

Rules are the same as before:
  1. This is intended to be a master list of all the streaks we have hanging over us so we can strike them from the record and put them in the past as we overcome them and start new, winning ones!
  2. In this list, I'd like to include all streaks still active, as well as all streaks broken so far in the Josh Heupel Era (2021 season and on). Please provide anything I have missed below! I want this to be community-fueled, so any comments or critiques about the way I'm presenting the data are encouraged as well.

I’ll chime in with this. If I looked at schedules right without going crosseyed, we’re currently 8-5 in our most recent game with every opponent in the SEC. 1-3 against teams Heupel hasn’t played yet (Arkansas, Auburn, Miss St, and A&M). 7-2 in our most recent games against SEC teams Heupel’s faced (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Vanderbilt).

Right before Heupel we stood at 4-9 in most recent game versus the SEC.

We’ve won two games over western division teams for the first time in years. In fact, our last win against a western div. team was against Auburn a few years ago.

Another streak has been broken.
The one where by mid October that we’ve all started talking basketball instead of football.
and the one where by this time in the football season that we avoid any friends or coworkers who are fans of other SEC teams especially OUR big 3 rivals.

If you want, there is one (or more) additional streaks that you can add, which neither we nor anybody else has a chance of breaking, i.e. number of undefeated, untied and unscored upon games and quarters. Over the course of 1938-1940, I believe that it ran to 17 games and 71 quarters, excepting the 1940 Rose Bowl, which didn't count by NCAA record-keeping protocols in those days.

I was really hoping that game was Guarantano's breakout game and confidence would boost him like Crompton against and after Georgia but it was just a fun fluke.
