The Tennessee Football Story.

It's yours. It's mine. It's the one you share with your dad. It's the one you share with your kids. It's the one you share with the guy at work, the one you share with the random stranger who yells "Go Vols!" as you walk by.

It's the games you've been to. The ones that broke your heart, and the ones that left you feeling like life, at that moment, is as good as it gets. And it's the games you're going to! The ones you anticipate, plan on, and pray about. You can't wait til the day gets here! And then, in a flash -good or bad- it's gone.

It's the players from your childhood, or the coaches. Or maybe it's the players from your school days. And for all of us, it's the players who will take the field this field this fall. It's all of them. And it's all of us.

The Tennessee Football Story is you. That's why we care. That's why we're here.

GO VOLS!!!

Love it...

It's Big Orange blood coursing through your veins. It's tearing up when the Pride of the Southland Band begins its classic pregame show that is unrivaled anywhere in college football. It's singing Rocky Top along with 104,254 of your closest friends after watching the Vols kick Vandy's for 1,204,294th time. It's sitting through a cold rain in Neyland's Big Wonderful House of Football when you could be at home watching it on a big-screen TV. It's bursting with pride when the Big Orange runs through the T and leaving with a smile when the Vols have dispatched another victim in the House That Neyland Built.

On September 24th it's going to be a miracle indeed. A '73 alum who saw his first UT football game with his dad in 1954, it's nice to just breathe air; to ride my old quarterhorse on the trails with my wife and dogs and enjoy keeping in touch with my UT pals of yore and remain functioning on my farm in South Carolina. After enduring three complicated heart surgeries the past couple of years and, as of this past April, having become a near-future heart transplant recipient at Duke University Hospital, I'm excited about living on for far longer than I'd believed possible. Lots of miracles. On September 24th I'll be screaming in Neyland...section C...fourth row. There's never been a Christmas or birthday or whatever other occasion that has made me more excited than becoming one with over a hundred thousand of my dearest family members...all you VFLs. Sweet words, Vollygirl. I'll be rushing onto the field with the rest of y'all!.

When you rush the field be sure to stay clear of the area where the goal posts come crashing to the S-W sod.

It's a never ending story, and it started with a voice, the voice of a legend that drew one in and still resounds in the memory's that never fade.

I always think of John when looking back, because I "watched" so many games through his eyes. I tell my kids they are spoiled that they get to watch so many games on tv, and that they can't appreciate good game calling for radio.

I dunno, maybe we are the spoiled ones for being able to listen to John Ward on the radio.

It's the PAST and the fUTure!

Sit back and take a couple of minutes (hours) to reflect on those fantastic times that you have had revolving around Football Time in Tennessee.

Now take some time to plan your next event.

I'll see you this fall!

I can think of worse ways to die than getting clocked on the head by a goal post on Shields-Watkins. That is a fitting end for a true VFL. :eek:hmy:

I haven't been a fan as long as some of you on here (since high school; I am a yankee transplant) but I have proudly proclaimed my fandom on 3 continents and 8 countries. I have been in the heart of enemy territory (Alabama) during our dark ages and still proudly proclaimed that I am a Volunteers fan. Most of my memories have included reflecting on home while listening to the game while I have been away (been gone from Eastern Tennessee for the better part of 15 years). Even after all my family moved away from Eastern Tennessee it is still home to me.

Will you be able to make any of the games this year?

EDIT: East Tennessee:)

Thanks buddy. I've not forgotten I promised you a pitcher of beer. 'Find me at the UF game and I'll make good on it. Section C, row 4...not sure of exact seats til Stubhub sends 'em.
