The staff will use the bye week to get Berry directly behind the center(Tennessean)

Ellix Wilson before he got all banged up the past 3 weeks was playing as good as any LB in the country.
My bad, dropped him from the list inadvertently.

I agree that our linebackers, save Rico, have been solid this season. Rico finally broke out on Saturday.

Berry is just a special type player. They don't come around that often and always seem to be in the right place at the right time. They just happen to stand out because of the athleticism, talent, and ability.

Berry is the fastest player on the field. That's one of the main reasons he's so good on defense, he closes incredibly fast. The fact he's already broken the interception return record as a sophomore is a good indicator of what he could do on offense IMO.

The season is a bust anyways, what does it hurt? If I was coach I would bench the seniors the last 2 games, get tthe other players some experience.

:eek:k:

Now, care to tackle the question of why wasn't Wilson playing ahead of Ryan Karl the past 2 seasons ? ..... scratch that, I think we both know the answer to that one.

the return yardage stat is a massively overblown ordeal. It's often about the array of players on the field at the point of the interception. 90+ of those yards came on a Tebow gaffe that anyone could have taken to the house.

The play where he almost went down, but kept his feet to go on and score was impressive, but the rest have just been returns.

His greatness is in the fact that he's fast, hits hard, tackles extremely well (and I mean extremely well), understands well his role on most plays and can cover. All of that makes him an elite kind of football player, not the returns.

I am against this. With nothing on the line it doesn't make sense. They can't be preparing for using this package next year, because they won't be here. They should have thought about utilizing 14 about 8 months ago. This decision is our coaching staff in a microcosm--not prepared, and about 2 steps behind where they should be.

.

not at all.

The Tebow one was a gimme...and it certainly is dependent on the array of the players, but you can't call it coincidence when it happens 5, 6, 7 times...

when he gets the ball, he knows how to get to the end zone.

how many TDs has he scored vs. actual number of INTs?

I would like to have been a fly on the wall when they ran this by the defensive coordinator.

I bet he didn't like the one play at slot receiver either.

Can you imagine a desperate offense wanting your best defensive player.

:stop:

I think it comes back to the old arguement, do you put your best athletes on offense or defense? I lean offense........

What does Berry gives us at QB that Jones doesn't? Aren't they essentially the same type of athlete? Jones has already played QB--just give him more snaps, and make Berry a WR, so that we get TWO athletes on offense, which is our big problem.

i think we should let the players decide what positions they want to play. turn it into more of a backyard style offense.

Yeah, so instead, they made other mistakes that cost us 7 games...

I was taking a subtle, sarcastic jab at the lame, conservative stupidity of Fulmer's coaching rationale.

I have no idea why they're even bothering with this package now, unless it's just to make EB happy...in which case, I have no problem with that...Berry deserves his snaps if that's what they promised him.

That's really the best play at this point. It's all about next year.

In the article CPF says EB is not a great passer, how could this be? He had an awesome HS career and won a bunch of games. I saw some stuff on you tube where he was throwing some pretty passes.

Fulmer says EB is not a good passer, I find it hard to believe he is worse than Crompton or Stephens.

I guess he's just saying Berry can't pass since we've already proven no one else can pass and he doesn't want to have to prove it to yet another team.

Kind of a scary thing for Berry, since he's got a bright career ahead of him on the defensive side of the ball. With the way our line is playing, I'd be scared to death of an injury.

Beyond that, surely there's a J.V. or pee-wee football player that could take the snaps for two games? Throw in the water boy or put Fulmers wife behind center. It can't get any worse can it?
