The stádium is half empty...

From someone that was there every game this year and saw every second of them in person:

- last night was COLD! Wind was cutting through the stadium and very few people dressed for it. Fans were going to restrooms for 10 minutes just get warm. Concessions were carrying around hot chocolates instead of cokes after the 1st quarter. The inside Neyland stores ran out of blankets shortly after kickoff.

- stadium was 95% full at kickoff. The biggest exodus came after we finally went up 19.

- the drivers of this thread are complaining about empty seats but weren't there??? Interesting. Go cheer for Vandy or Kentucky, you will have a lot better seats by yourselves and we won't miss you!

Agreed. I also stayed until the end

I know everyone here just wants to complain, but this is pretty accurate. I was at the game, and it was pretty full at kickoff and through the first half.

Many people brought light jackets or hoodies thinking it might be a bit chilly, but with the wind and lack of sun, it was really cold.

Pretty much anyone around me who had young kids (a lot more than usual at this game), eldery, or young ladies in skirts with them left around halftime. Most the others left after we went up 19 in the fourth.

This is more a reflection that our fanbase doesn't watch the weather channel.

No. That information is completely false. Some people left, nearly the entire crowd was there until halftime and it was noticeably emptying when we went up 49-30.

And quite honestly folks got more into the game they should have been watching after the LSU / Florida game ended.

Am I the only one seeing a normal looking stadium in the 4th quarter? From the TV it certainly looks much closer to capacity than half full
The fans in the upper decks came down and filled the empty lower level seats giving the appearance of full but way too many fans left...no doubt.

I was prepared for cold, bringing a blanket and heavy coat but after half time the wind was bitter and chilled me to the bone. We toughed it out and left as King Kongbo ran the Int back for a TD

Players had a heater on the sidelines- we didn't
This is the type of game many fair weather fans would have skipped altogether but the stadium was full to start the game.

I spoke with a friend who was there and he confirmed that it really wasn't as empty as the announcers made it out to be and in his words, "It was damn cold!"

I guess part of that is this being the first real cold weather we've had...

I try to make one game a year and no, I never leave early...

What a poor reflection of our fans...hope the players aren't as big of quitters....

Many of our fans deserve 5-6 seasons. I won't watch football with a negative fan. I wish all true fans would boycott negative fans and let them drown in their own negativity.

It was cold. A bunch weren't prepared for how cold it was.

Yep, that was me. Wore a long sleeve shirt and a pull over. Not enough. Bought a hoodie at the game and it still wasnt enough. Should have dressed like I was going sledding.

And it wasnt "half full". Way more than that. Many people were in the concourses where the wind wasnt blowing.

I was in section F. Mostly full. I stayed for the whole game just like most of the people. It was so very cold, and very windy. But I'll say again it was almost full.

Thanks for stating the truth. I was there as well and you are spot on. Absolutely ridiculous how some come here and lay out "facts" that don't even resemble the truth. Ah but alas they will return next week with even more untruths...we call them lies where I live and some well intended fan will take it as gospel and off we go...

Weak football coaching staff embarrasses alot of fans. Who cares!

Apparently so weak they forgot to turn up the thermostat. I've sat all the way through a lot of very cold, very hot, and rainy games - cold ones were the worst to me. Now I can watch virtually any game I want at home in an uncrowded and very comfortable chair - review plays at will - take breaks at will whether a pit stop or for refreshments. There's a lot of difference now that TV carries every game vs the stadium or radio.

I've also heard some comments about drunken "fans" making surrounding conditions less enjoyable. Could be that real fans might be more interested in watching a game without other people who see the game as a place to party and a football game just happened to break out during the party.

Yes the few times I went down to the restrooms, I saw lot of folks standing at the bottom of the section I was in. The wind was brutal at the top of the upper sections.

The exodus occurred when we went up by 19 and with every increase to the lead more folks left. I stayed until the end.

We stayed until the very last note of the Tennessee Waltz was played, the players were off the field and the Pride was leaving.. Yes it was cold & windy, we watched the weather reports and came prepared.. Coming up game for Candy, 7:30 kickoff and supposed to be 40 degrees, we'll be bundled up for a huge ass kicking!!!

I say it's great to be a

I was there with a pregnant wife and we stayed until they went up 19 in the 4th. It was bitterly cold with a harsh wind chill.
I do remember thinking to myself after we found out Fl somehow beat LSU that this game is now pointless and part of me wanted to leave right then. But the VFL in me and the generations of my family's UT love, trials and tribulations, and patience finally took over and I stayed and screamed louder than ever. Gotta support the team no matter what

Maybe they can turn it into housing. We really don't need it anymore... or, maybe a parking lot...
