I also think that Dooley should get three years. Yes the majority want his but out. This was a job no one wanted and he took it on. He coulda easily screwed us by walking out when the fight got heavy but he is staying to help right the ship. One thing I thought of after last season was how could two inexcusable incidents affect a team for the next few years. Most of the players against LSU and UNC will be on this team for the next year or even two. When we came out this season against Montana and Cincy, I saw a fire wanting to come out killing. We hit a few bumps in which we lose playmakers on offense. I'm eager to see how our intensity is when we open up in atlanta. Gonna be a fun ride.

I don't think the majority want him gone. The ones that want him gone are te loud ones. I think most are taking the wait and see approach

I don't know if Dooley is the guy or not, but next year should tell us. I will say, I want him to be successful. He's a good face for the program, and, more than anything else, I want this mediocre crap to end. Not sure if another change does that.

One thing I would also like to ask: If we get Steele or Shannon, with the addition of Jay Graham last month, plus another good/great recruiting class: Is that a sinking ship?

But don't you agree that those two instances could be a foreshadowing of a coach's career? I think he has caught some bad breaks and I'm tired of people pulling the progress argument. I just think that everyone talks how he isn't a coach we he has had so many variables against him then not. He got stuck with an OC he didn't choose, a bare bare roster, a Hellacious Fan Base, and basically was the only one who wanted to do this. The risk reward was definitely a big deal in my mind: if he wins in three or four years, he's golden but if not, he can coach rathe than the status of the situation he walked into got to him.

no matter what he dont walk off,,UT will have to fire him and pay out millions to him,,if he quits he gets nadda!

so saying hes sticking it out because of UT is not a concept I would buy.

A few things going wrong?
1.The whole LSU fiasco
2. The music city bowl
3. The all CLK recruits for various reasons (especially JJ)
4. Having to be concerned about Rod Wilks
5.injury to Justin Hunter
6. Injury to Tyler Bray
7. Injury to Lathers
8. Turns out top rated kickers can kick above my knees

Take away any two of these issues and a lot of things change

Now moving on, after all you did say that you were tired of that and fair enough, but you also said 3 or 4 years. So are you also taking the wait and see approach?

I watched B Petrino at Louisville come in and win BIG and Often but always looking to get out of Louisville. He was the flash coach with a short term plan. When he left U of L is still recovering.

DD has a 5-7 season, totally unacceptable but not the end of the world and everyone is wanting to clean house. Granted if we go 6-6, or worse next season, I am going to admit he is not the right coach. But until now he has not had enough time for a complete evaluation. Dooley is building the VOLs for the long haul, the talent level is off the charts in some positions.

The Defense is going to be upgraded. JW is a good DC but he fielded the worst tackling defense I have ever witnessed, two years in a row. Losing him is not the end of the world. Steel/Shannon/Momma Dooley, whoever DD gets will be an upgrade.
