Do you remember LA's pollution during the 80/90s? What changed?

This is an excerpt curb the Mises article Hot Air.

Similarly in our times, air pollution was being reduced in the United States decades before any federal regulations were adopted. From 1950 until 1970, the amount of volatile organic compounds and carbon monoxide in the nation's air fell by more than 20 percent, even though total vehicle-miles traveled in the country rose by 120 percent, from 458 billion to 1.1 trillion. The level of sulfur dioxide in the air began falling as far back as 1920, and the total amount of airborne particulate matter has been reduced by 79 percent since 1940.

Much of this was achieved through increased fuel efficiency in automobiles, consumer adoption of oil and natural gas for the heating of homes, and the introduction of new energy sources such as nuclear and solar power. Entrepreneurs, in their desire to attain the highest yield of energy per unit of resource, were voluntarily reducing air pollution at a dramatic rate.

Yet government economic planners were not pleased with society's progress. In another usurpation of property rights, government forced businesses and consumers to cut back even further on emissions, to reduce the use of specific energy resources, and to cease at numerous other activities. Even today, the left continues to profess the Clean Air Act as society's environmental savior. Yet after almost 30 years of regulating, the EPA is unable to produce evidence that its efforts have independently improved air quality.

Well played

Rising gas costs in the early 2000's forced car companies to work on increasing engine technology to improve mpg, way before anything Obama did. Look what car companies did.."clean diesel", engines that shut off unnecessary cylinders, turbo/superchargers on smaller more efficient engines to boost power. I almost bought a vehicle last year with a V6 and a turbocharger but then I heard the rumble of the V8 I own now and it was impossible to pass up. And I get about 20mpg minimum which ain't bad for a 5.7L.

Very true

No it's not, absolutely nothing he said was anything but partisan bullshat.

Until now, you could choose to go through an open public site or to search in private.

The "nefarious" searches that I don't want advertised, is my searches for my children's birthday and Christmas presents.

Because we live in such a partisan (for the right) area, I wish this had been a lib idea. That way, it would receive the outrage it deserves by everyone, regardless of political leaning. There is absolutely nothing right or ok about this and no one with a true republic idealism would ever suggest as much. Even pretending this is ok in any form or manner isn't supporting any likeness of true belief, it's simply " R's did it so I'll blow as much smoke up your ass as necessary, to defend "my side".

I did. How gullible are you? Never mind, rhetorical question.

Lol. From the guy who voted for Obama twice. How did that Gitmo closing go? How did that equal pay for Women go? How did ending those wars go?...How did that red line in the sand go??..

To be fair I actually thought Obama would ball up with the red line in the sand comment but when he collapsed like a dry fart against a pyramid of 3 dollar bills I wasn't totally shocked.

I was pleased with his overall job. As were most Americans. Would have voted for him again, as would have most Americans. Pretty sure you will not be able to say the same.

Jesus man, do you ever have an original thought that pops in your head?

TRUMP WON GET OVER IT is your default response in every thread.

Also, the first 15 responses in every new thread are guaranteed to be a conservative deflection about Obama or Hillary.

I thought I would get some defending but they're actually avoiding the whole issue. Oh it's already out there anyway. Mehhhh who cares.

Marsha appreciates it.

I hate that he crushed all of those Chevy Blazers and Ford Broncos. Ass hat move that mostly benefited car dealerships and manufacturers. Made used car prices soar costing the working class a boatload of money.

How many things can i get my sphincter in knots over? This is a very low priority for me. Do i like it? No. Am i gonna throw a hissy and call my congressional rep or senators? No. If this is your top priority issue, fine. Go after the evildoers.

We actively have a party convinced that the business sector can do no wrong

That's the exact reason that I am so disgusted and have been breaking my rule of not commenting in political discussions.

I was raised Republican but by that, I mean old school Republican, like a Lincoln Republican. Freedom and rights above all else.

But every political situation I bother with these days seemingly involves something along the lines of another privacy intruded upon or "hey, the $0.07 new tax per gallon on gas suggested by a Republican, has been brought down to $0.06 per gallon by other Republicans, shouldn't you be really happy?" More taxes and invasions by the non tax and non invasion party?

I see a lot of disgusting things in politics, but nothing more disgusting than people faking outrage about certain rights, then pretending they're perfectly fine with the same intrusions as long as their party is doing it.

Then I come on here and hear about how all these things I was promised would end if a republican was elected, are now okay because a republican was elected.

I tried my best to leave politics forever, but I swear to God, I just witnessed an election between a criminal like Hillary Clinton and a stupid freaking reality TV star like Donald Trump. And that can only be due to a takeover by insane political, partisan nut jobs.

Everyone needs to get over their dumbass "my side is better", and start worrying about what is better for our country again.

How did Hilary Clinton lose? She ran as Obama's third term. His policies lose in 2012, 2014, and 2016.

Honestly McDad, few make me laugh like you do. Love your posts... but us not caring is exactly what they're counting on, and take that from an insider. Well, a former Insider in that heathen infested world.

Appreciate the kind words.

It's simply not a big issue to me. My lack of interest doesn't invalidate the importance or the passion for others, though.

Fight on.
