The Season Continues ....

With the possible exceptions of Appalachian State University and Georgia Tech, things for the rest of us in college football world are still ripe with the opportunity to do a lot better.

Let's not forget that we are one weekend into a three month process. As a Gator fan, I'm concerned about the defense. We showed a lot of confusion this past weekend, and that's to be expected undert the circumstances.

UT found out it has a pretty good offense that will score points, but needs dramatic improvement on defense. FSU found out that it needs a QB. Texas found out that it needs work on a lot of things.

Basically every team out there -- with those two notable exceptions above -- have to figure that the best day of the season is still in front of them.

I have to agree. The Cal game is almost out of my mind, and I'm looking ahead to Southern Miss. I think we've all vented our frustation. Lets see how things turn out in the future.

That's a good point law...but keep in mind...you D was all over the place athletically even if tehy were confused...I was extremely impressed. And I am officially afraid of Tebow..he looked great from what I saw even if it was WKU.

If our D doesn't step up UF will score at will on us. And your D will have their confusion settled by the time they face us....I am officially afraid of what could happen in the swamp this year

Guess that is what happens with first games...finding out the strenths and weaknesses. And, boy did some of us find some problems.

We had strengths in areas I was worried about. We had weakness in areas I thought we were solid. It's going to be a bumpy ride again.

The ONLY two teams that are one step closer to, or further from, and SEC championship are LSU and Mississippi State.

The Gator game was really pretty much what one would have expected, but remember who we were playing. I know we take a lot of criticism for our early schedule year in and year out, and sometimes it does sort of bother me that traditionally we play two pretty bad teams.

But this year it is a big advantage to us to play such teams so that we have a chance to iron out a lot of the problems that an inexperienced squad will cause.

Tebow looked quite comfortable and there weren't a lot of penalties for the offense, considering the complexities. Those were two encouraging signs for Gator fans.

QB isn't FSU's only problem... it wouldn't matter how good Weatherford is when he has defenders in his face from the time the ball is snapped.

Georgia Tech has plenty of things in front of them that are far more important than beating a team that will be lucky to win 6 games.

i don't know, the way they ended the 1st half, with like 3 penalties and a time out or something....was pretty comical.

Florid will be fine. they didn't do anything special...just beat up a bad team. will likely be the same next week.

and i'm sure over the course of the next 12 days, they will have viewed teh Cal and USM tapes more than once and will have the "real" game plan installed.........just in time for the SEC opener...........:unsure:

i was at the gator game...i dont know if people should judge tebow on one game...yes he threw very well (as the stats show) but most of the passes were to wide open receivers and it was against a basically D-II defense. I did, however, underestimate tebow's throwing ability heading into this game, but i dont agree with experts' opinions (most notably Andy Katz) that tebow has established himself.

Its too early to know at what level he will perform overall, I agree. Ask me in mid-October.

I would say he has confirmed that he has the athleticism to be one of the best this year. He also has the talent around him. If he executes and stays healthy, there's no reason for him to do anything but succeed.
