I'm ready. Go.

I'm not sure if it translates well over the internet....

I stopped a middle aged man for speeding. His teenage daughter is with him. I ask for the standard; license, registration and proof of ins. He provides his license and a rental agreement. I look at the license for a couple of seconds when I realize this jackass has used an ink pen to write a number "8" over the "7" on his California Drivers license which expired in 1997. This happened in Colorado.

I calmly say to the man, "You wrote this date on the license". He responds with, "No, I didn't". I'm in no mood for this so I just say OK and go back to my vehicle. This gentleman received summons' for; speeding, driving on an expired license and falsifying an official government document. Maybe something else, I can't remember, it has been almost 15 years. Regardless, he was going to have to come back to Colorado for a later court date. Also, made a call to the rental agency. They were not happy.

After going back up to the vehicle and advising the citizen of his violations, he freaked out. He advised me that his daughter would not be attending college in Colorado if this is how people get treated here. I advised the citizen that I could accept those consequences with a clear conscience.

And then I told him he needed to get out of the car and remove his belongings. We were calling a tow truck. And then the swearing began. The rental agency wanted their car back.

As I performed a cursory search of the citizen before allowing him to use my back seat, this is when he questioned whether or not I believed in the Son of the Holy Father. I advised him that it was none of his business and to be quiet.

Easter 1998. I still have the VHS tape.
