The Runner's thread

been working a lot on short runs 1-3 miles or doing 60/120s. Improved my 2-Mile drastically. 13:34 in a diagnotic, my fastest APFT run since Basic. Going for 13:10.

3.26 in 38:19.

Not fast, but I have been having the same problem over the last two weeks or so. About a half mile in, my calfs get extremely tight to the point where the last mile every step causes pain. Any more experienced runners have any idea why this would happen.

I ran that same trail nearly 4 minute faster a month ago.

Stretching before and after your runs?

Yes to before and I normally walk 4 to 5 minutes after to stretch them post.

You taking rest days between running and basketball?

I run two to three days a week and play bball twice a week. I try to make sure I have at least two rest days and they normally are the day before I run.

Could be something with the way you are striking the ground. :dunno:

I'm no expert. Tri-vol would be able to give you some better ideas but haven't seen him around lately

I appreciate any advice. Talked to my dad (avid runner) and based on the pain I was describing he thought that it might be a potassium or water deficiency. Seems legit enough, so I am going to add a multi and force down more water the next couple weeks and see if it helps.
