The Runner's thread

I must try these Brooks. I had never heard of them before going in Dick's, so I didn't try any on. I love my Nikes, so if they're so inferior, these other shoes must be amazing.

Feet are different for everybody, so I'm sure Brooks aren't great fits for everybody. But they do have a wide selection for sorts of different types of feet. I've had Nike, New Balance, Merrell, Saucony, Asics and Brooks. Brooks have always been great for me and I absolutely love wearing the PureCadences.

I have a narrow heel so it's hard for me to find shoes that fit that don't slide up my heel as I am running. So Nike, Adidas, and Brooks are the only ones I have found that fit my feet.

I was at Famous Footwear or Rack Room Shoes and tried on a pair of the upper level Asics. I think the Kayano's? They are by far the most comfortable shoe I've ever put on. I was amazed. However, the sticker price made me sad

Yeah good running shoes aren't cheap, but if you are going to be running a lot of miles it will be well worth the money spent.

It's the chicken or the egg question for me.

Do I justify buying the shoes by running more now and getting them for my next pair or do I buy them now stating to myself that'll run more once I get them?

I think if you spend the money you will run. At least that's the way it worked out for me. I spent the money on the Brooks and every time I felt like not running I just reminded myself I spend $100 on shoes to run.

3.6 after work today. 7:38 pace. Had to walk a few times. Didn't drink enough water throughout the day and got a cramp about two miles in that wouldn't go away. Made for a terrible last 1.6.

10.00 today. First time ever in the double digits, :). I met a sponsored ultra-runner yesterday too, talking with him kind of put my futile attempt at running in perspective, haha.

Weekly Total: 27.19 Miles
