The Runner's thread

I highly recommend the Ironman branded ear buds at Best Buy. They're cheap, they're not bad quality, and they stay in my big/funny shaped ear canal ears.

I made the move to minimalist shoes last year, specifically the Reebox Realflex. They have been the only shoes I can run in and not feel my ankles, knees, and back within a half mile.

However, and I am sure it's due to the design, I can't help but run on the outside of my feet now.

Is there anything I should be looking for in my stride? Is there another type of minimalist shoe that I could look at that would help with under-pronating?

Are you truly supinating (under pronating) or is it just that you aren't landing with your whole foot? It seems if you were supinating you would still have knee problems as well as issues with your Achilles tendon. I've been flat footed my whole life but the move to minimalists finally gave me some arch and it has been a shin and ankle saver for me.

Agree

3.5 yesterday afternoon. 7:38 pace. Humidity is killing me. I think I am going to have to change when I am running. See if it will help me at all.

Pretty cool thing at the marathon Sunday.

When this couple opened their packets their bibs didn't have a number. Her's said "Will You" and his said "Marry Me?"

Thought that was pretty clever. She said yes which is good cause it woulda sucked to run a marathon with her if she said no.

That is pretty damn cool. I would be super pissed if she said no and then had to run a marathon.

I guess that a good question. I don't know.

I have a pair of New Balance's that I was running in that I wouldn't land on the side of the foot as much as I do in the Reebox.

While running today I tried to focus on landing different ways on my foot but nothing seemed to work.

I'll probably leave as be. It takes about 3 miles to truly start feeling any strain in my foot with the landing and I can still avoid the other joint injuries. Just thought maybe there was something somewhere I might have been doing wrong.

Thanks

Is your strike under your hips?
How much do you stretch?

Yankee, you cray.

I will not be running on this holiday. I feel like my legs have been run over by a bus. A big bus, like a coach bus.

If you are experiencing actual pain, then something might be wrong. When I first switched to minimalists, I felt in my calves and achilles tendon because being forced to run "correctly" (as the experts call it) puts more work on your achilles tendon and calves. This was a dull pain, a muscles are being worked like never before pain. I didn't experience joint pain or anything like that. If you are experiencing piercing pains or joint pains, something isn't right. I would go to a running specialty store and have them decide which shoe would be best for you.

Crap National running day and I don't have time to do both my runs today.

Been doing 2 a days for the past few days.

in the morning I either run 5 miles or play basketball
in the afternoon I run 5 miles

Did 1.8 @ 10:52. Was not a good run day. Just didn't have the energy :( When my Nike lady told me it took over 11 minutes to do my mile I knew it was over lol
