The Runner's thread

That's never fun... makes it even worse when the dog is big and fast.

Makes for a nice tempo run :)

We've had great running weather this week but that changes today. 30 degree temp drop today, 3 in snow and 50 mph wind gusts expected over the next 24 hrs. My goal is to not miss a run.

Running in the snow is something that I want to do but we don't get enough snow down here for me to get that chance.

6 miles, 48 minutes, 02 seconds. I was aiming for an 8 minute pace with all the hills on this course and I'm going to cheat my two seconds and say I nailed it.

5.2 miles today. First time ever running 5 miles, feels good.

I'm not sure how long it took me. My phone died around the 4 mile mark, but I was going at a 9:40 pace. Didn't feel like I slowed down the last mile, I actually sped up the last tenth of a mile, so I'm going to go with about 50 minutes.

4-5 miles yesterday. Spent more time driving to the trails & taking pictures than running but it was worth it.

What are you using to track your elevation?

Google maps on my phone this time. There is a terrain option that shows the topography lines. I checked it after I was done.

Strava will track elevation but my phone GPS doesn't work well in the woods. It makes me mad when the phone says I ran 3 miles when I know I ran 4.

I will have to try the google maps.

My runner keeper app will work in the woods somerime.

Figured I'd jump in this thread. Been a runner off/ on for last 10 yrs. Gearing back up for a 1/2 marathon and Tough Mudder this upcoming yr.

So put in 5 miles today in 37:28 or 7 min 30 sec/ mile

Ram today for the first time in seven weeks. Thought I was going to have a heart attack, lol

3.2 in 29:41 today. I've been sick the past couple of days and haven't run since Christmas morning, I'm almost over it.

Welcome. just what this thread needed...another rabbit. :)

I'm putting this down here for documentation purposes and to be held accountable. Over the past month and a half, I've managed to lower my pace by more than a minute/mile. I'm pretty sure it's just been a combination of dumb luck and losing 10 lbs.

So right now, I'm sitting at about a 9:10-9:15 pace for 3 miles, and 215 lbs. I'm setting a goal for myself that by the end of February I'd like to be at an 8:15 pace and 200 lbs. I think I can accomplish this without any speed work (outside of the huge hills in my usual routes) by building up my base mileage. I'm currently at ~10-11 mpw. I will be increasing my base mileage up to 25 mpw by the end of February. I currently run 4 days a week, I will be increasing this to 6 days/week by adding two easy recovery days of 1.5-2.5 miles each. My long run this week was 5 miles, I would like for it to be 9 miles by the end of February. At the end of February, assuming I have reached my goals, I will decide whether to go for 13.1 or 5K in the Knoxville Marathon.

if you want to go faster try including some intervals in one of your runs.
