The Runner's thread

You have to if you do any long distance runs.

Though it is my understanding if you are wanting to shed fat and build muscle 3 miles at a 30 min pace is ideal.

I don't do any long distance runs. I did for a while but when I was lifting I couldn't figure out why I didn't seem to be gaining mass.

Most of my runs now are about 20 mins and not very long.

Sometimes I throw in some sprints, like 1.5 mins light jog, then 1.5 mins sprint, doing that in intervals for about 10-15 mins.

that shouldn't hurt your muscle mass at all...that's the type of thing a lot of body builders do

I ran 10 sat am and 4 today. Saturday was the first time in 20+ years of running that I have had sore shins. I sat on the couch for an hour and a half with ice packs on them...they were fine today. I had gu and water 6 miles in. The water was awesome....but i'm not sure the gu did a whole lot, maybe at about 8.5. Running 6 tomorrow night. I need to run 12 this saturday, but we're shooting a wedding in northern PA...going to need to find a route.

My legs took a pounding yesterday and I ran 6. It's always the shoes for me.

I went out and bought my first pair of Asics.

Just ran a little charity 5k. I am not a runner due to nagging stress fractures. But did it in just under 25 min. Felt pretty good. The winner came in a shade over 15min. Won 2 round trip tickets anywhere in the world

That's a pretty good time gb especially if you don't run much

I'm really happy with it. It's the first time that I can remember feeling good throughout the run. Kind of makes me want to start running more.

Did the Marine Corps 5K Mud Run yesterday in Knoxville. It was pretty fun. Had about 4 mud pits(w/ obstacles) and a few more obstacles as well. Came in around 28:47. I lost one of my bibs so they said that was my time. I think it was closer to 26. Oh well, it was a blast
