I've had an ongoing arguement with a buddy of mine that started in college 15 years ago and continues to this day. The question is a simple one:

Better Overall Rock Band: Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath?

I dont really put them in the same category but I'd go Black Sabbath. Symptom of the Universe tramples every Zep song in my opinion.

That being said..I probably enjoy more Zep albums than Sabbath ones oddly enough.

I probably could have elaborated more on the specifics of the argument - which was which band had the most influence in pioneering heavy metal/hard rock music. Perhaps it's unfair to leave Deep Purple out of the conversation, but they never reached the levels of success and notoriety that Zep and BS did.

Both. Sabbath probably had more of an influence on the heavier stuff, while Zeppelin was more influential on the arena rock and the glam bands of the 80s.

Been on a Ghost and Slipknot kick this week.

Ghost is pretty f##king good. Even some of the old fogies where I work dig them..even though one said he listened to the lyrics of Square Hammer and thought it was about devoting oneself to Satan...:birgits_giggle:
