The Rock/Metal Thread

Saw Pop Evil, Rob Zombie, and Disturbed in Nashville Saturday. Awesome show, and the new ampitheater is really nice.

It was the 4th time I've seen Disturbed and first time for Zombie. Zombie is still awesome and David Draiman sounded as good as he ever has. Lzzy Hale even came out for part of a song.

Draiman needs to lay off the pizza though and spend some time on a treadmill. Dude has gotten fat.

I haven't seen Disturbed in years. Does he still do the stupid "silence of the lambs" entrance thing? Only seen Zombie once solo. Meh. I liked White Zombie better.

Ha, nah. I mean he can still be a tad overdramatic but this time they just played an intro video and came on the stage.

Disturbed had an album in the early 2000's that oddly enough is one of the few I've purchased in the last 25 years where almost every song is good (in my opinion).

Then again my opinion might not count for much, my favorite bands are Cattle Decapitation and Dying Fetus..

The world lost a great drummer last night. Nick Menza (formerly of Megadeth) had a massive heart attack while playing with a group last night just 3 songs into the performance. He was just 51.

Just saw this tonight. Megadeth in its prime was amazing -- see "Rust in Peace"

From what I read, Menza was a dedicated father and had multiple musical pursuits, including Jazz, after his departure from Megadeth.

His father was the guy that played the saxophone theme for The Pink Panther, and Nick grew up learning how to play drums under Buddy Rich. Nick was definitely one of a kind. Megadeth never was the same after they kicked him out.

Just grabbed my Uncles old vinyls and found some gems!
