Amorphis - Death Of a King
one of my favorite bands since 1991

Amorphis is such a solid band. I think they get lost in the mix with other bands like In Flames getting all the attention. Tales From a Thousand Lakes and Elegy are a huge part of my metal influence.

Parkway Drive.

They usually have some good songs. There are better on the new album but here is a video.

Bottom Feeder
Sounds like a Slipnot clone..but decent

Their new album "IRE" is such a letdown. "Deep Blue" was their worst album to date in my eyes....but this one makes DB look like a masterpiece.

Same man. I loved both albums when they came out and they still remain on my list of solid metal albums. Both are intertwined into the memories of my youth.

I've never been a big Lamb of God fan but their song Overlord was good enough to get me to buy the album. Guy at Best Buy: "I didnt know people still bought CD's"... :/

New Grave..one of my favorite "old school 90's death metal bands"..

Another band that doesn't get enough love is Sentenced from Finnland. They started out as death metal and moved to rock, but they were awesome.
+100 for "eliteness".

One of my favorite bands of ALL TIME. I loved this song:

And originally I hated it back in in 95. I hated the vocals. But as I got older I realized it was a gem.

I love that song. Every October I break out my Sentenced albums. They just fit the season. Also, this is totally like that Stepbrothers scene right now.

I hated that album when it came out..but I've always loved that song.

When October rolls around I always think of this song from Necrophagia:

Cool song. The first time I heard Devin was his singing on a Steve Vai album, and I absolutely hated it. Years later when he was doing the SYL and Ocean Machine stuff I was surprised at how much I liked him. Looking back, that Vai album is still a steaming pile, but I think that's all on Steve Vai.

I went to Birmingham to see a concert Sunday night. Blessthefall headlined, but I also got to see Oceans Ate Alaska, Stick to Your Guns, Emarosa, and Cain Hill.

4/5 killed it and Cain Hill (opening band) tried haha. I will say if you like metalcore type music take a listen to Oceans Ate Alaska, they also have some punk influence and their lead guitarist and drummer are sick. Got to meet them after too nice guys. Their singer can also clean, shriek, growl, deep scream, high scream, everything. He's got insane range and versatility.

If you like less only younger guy music (like Blessthefall and OAA) take a listen to Stick to Your Guns. Not meaning if you are younger (under 25 or so) you won't like them. I like them a lot and I just turned 22. They are killer live, probably had a better hype in the crowd than btf, and a lot of their songs have great meanings behind them.

First link is Oceans Ate Alaska, second is Stick to Your Guns. Assuming you guys have heard of Blessthefall and Emarosa. Also met Bradley from emarosa. Really nice guy as well.

I never warmed up to Devin until the song Love? and the Evil Dead video where he had a "skullet"..I was like this dude rocks!

Saw him live he seems like a really cool dude.

I just saw that At The Gates and The Haunted are going to be touring together and will hit up Florida. I'm very jealous right now.

Metalcore ain't my style but Oceans Ate Alaska was listenable. I just am not a fan of the clean singing they do. Literally everything else, even the repetitive guitar riffs, is good..that singing though..bleh.

I caught Enslaved once in Miluakee and once in Knoxville. They opened for Opeth at the Bijou Theater and they were great. "As fire swept clean the Earth" is incredible.

Damn opened for Opeth? Man I LOVED Opeth's first two albums..like filed away as classics. I dug their next few releases but over time they became too "artsy" for me. Hell Opeth has gotten me laid a few times :good!: so always got a "soft spot" for em.

I saw Enslaved open for Amon Amarth the other year. Both were awesome. Second time seeing Amon Amarth..they put on a good show.

I will check ATG off my list but I still need to see Gojira, Amorphis, and In Flames. In Flames scares me because I fear they will only play their garbage of the past 15 years.

I've listend to Enslaved since they formed, but the song that really got me to pay attention was Større Enn Tid, Tyngre Enn Natt. I liked their earlier albums but when I heard this song I was basically on the "I'm buying all of their albums" train.

Yeah I could see it not being for everyone. I'll say though they have one of the better guitarists and drummers in the metalcore scene right now. I personally like the singing, more yelling and screaming tbh, but as far as their style goes if you just listen to the instruments it's pretty incredible. Very unique sound. I like bands that don't sound like anything else on the scene.

Speaking of I might catch Dance Gavin Dance in December. Im looking to hit 1-2 shows a month or every other month while I'm still young. Living very close to Atlanta and most concerts worth seeing being $15-25 there's no reason not to. I'll keep you guys posted on what was good and what wasn't for me.

A few big name bands released videos this month. Devil You Know (former Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones new band, second single from their second album), Suicide Silence released their single from their EP, and August Burns Red released a song featuring the lead singer of A Day To Remember. All embedded below.

Also bonus video for those that haven't heard of this band check em out, Animals As Leaders. They don't have a singer but make some pretty groovy jams.
