I got the impression that the rock was only reflecting his time at UT. If they had looked at his entire career as a HC, then it would have read 0-20 against ranked teams instead of 0-13. However, you are correct that he did win a bowl game at La Tech.

I agree that it would be great to find a person with UT ties, but it isn't necessary.

The way I see it....is stuff like this says "This is our expectation." I'm sorry, but I do not want a coach here that does not truly expect to win a National Championship. Which means, he needs to win the SEC. Which means, he needs to expect to beat the Florida, Georgia, Alabama teams.

I am NOT okay with losing. I am NOT okay with just assuming that I can pencil in losses on the next two games. I expect excellence. I expect to be in every single game, no matter who it's against. And I want a coach who expects that.

And as far as recruiting, this lets them know we expect excellence from our players as well. If you want to come to UT, you better be willing to give it 110% and bust your tail, because we won't put up with anything less. We aren't going to bust a player's chops if they're playing their heart out and playing up to potential. But if you wanna come don the Orange, then you better be willing to play your heart out.

It's all about expectation. Alabama expected greatness, so they shelled out the $ to get a good coach. Kentucky expected basketball greatness, so they shelled out the $ to get a good coach.

We expected a miracle, and we got nothing more than a magic trick.

I want to believe again, and I'm having a hard time doing that right now. I want to expect perfection, and I want a coach that demands it.
