1. We're going to the Sweet Sixteen. For this team that's a very nice accomplishment.
2. Gutsy play by everyone. No reason to be critical of anyone.
3. Cam Tatum's shot at the end of the first half was huge. That changed momentum.
4 . While I'm certainly not his biggest fan, Bruce Pearl has done a very good job. This team has done all that could be expected of it.
5. Butler going to the Sweet 16 is a great thing. They have a shot of going to the Final Four.
6. Wayne Chism has another game in a Tennessee uniform. That's a good thing.
7. Villanova got what they deserved. When you quit guarding, you should lose.
8. It'll be interesting to see what Wake does tonight. They have the talent to challenge Kentucky.
9. Auburn should hire Todd Bozeman. I never dreamed I'd type that.
10. West Virginia-Missouri will be the best game of the tournament. A street fight to the epic degree.

Alright everybody I have to bring this up. I have posted this same comment over the past few weeks and I have been blasted. This is about Stephen Pearl's minutes. Although, we played a great game, especially defensively, I have to bring this up.

I have posted before how I think we lose the minutes that Stephen Pearl is in the game, so today I took a piece of paper and pen and took the following during today's game:

Stephen Pearl played 15 minutes today. When Stephen Pearl was in the game we lost those minutes by -7 points, but Pearl was not in the game we were +22 for those minutes.

I know everyone is going to blast me and keep telling me how he is a "defensive specialist", but the facts are this... when Stephen Pearl is not in the game we are much better team. If anyone needs more stats about Stephen Pearl from this game, just let me know cause I have them.

Unfortunately he's still the best option as a sub. I don't understand why people cannot get that and that resting players and fouls mean he's got to play.

We're in the friggin Sweet 16 with at least a chance to do something that seemed impossible 2 months ago. Just shut the f up for one day and enjoy it.

At this point, I have to agree. We are now officially playing with house money. Just enjoy it.

The thing is he is not our best option. Woolridge is a better option, hell Pearl comes in before Hall. Also, don't worry I am extremely enjoying this team. When everyone has blasted this team and Coach Pearl I told everyone we would make a deep tourney run. I just don't want it to end because of terrible personel decisions.

Woolridge is not a better option.

No matter how you try to spin it.

You are correct. Anything that happens from here on is gravy. Time to just enjoy it and hopefully have an excuse to drive to St Louis for something other than a baseball game this time next week.

It's safe to say when it comes to collegiate athletics I cannot stand those with divided loyalties.

Amen.

The only time I think it's "ok" is say you go to school that doesn't have a FBS/Division 1-A program, so then I can see you having a different college football team than basketball.

Other than that, anyone who roots for 2 different schools I don't count them as a fan of either. ESPECIALLY inbreds who root for say Alabama Football and Kentucky Basketball, and I downright want to punch anyone who dares tell me they root for UT football and Kentucky basketball.

Hat, has this season changed your opinion on Pearl at all? If not, what would it take for that to happen?

Hat, I thought Bone made some good plays today. Do you think he should see a little more time in the future?

He's done a nice job this year. We'll see how it goes next weekend.

Sounds like the jury's still out. I gotta believe you WANT him to change your opinion since it would mean success for UT in basketball. Here's hoping you are feeling very good about Pearl after next Sunday.

Surprised no discussion on Bone's minutes. For a guy that hasn't played many minutes, he gave a solid effort. McBee entrenched in the dog house with Woolridge now?

Pearl said pregame that he wanted Bone to play 10 min in order to help out with Ohio's guards on D.

I just had a discussion with a fellow VN member and long-time friend regarding my opinion of Bruce. He's done a fantastic job bringing this team around after a worst-case scenario on New Year's. One or two more wins over (IMO) very beatable teams would really win my love...so we shall see. Great game today, and I'm so excited that I get to continue the March Madness this week!

I really have no interest in blasting you, but I do disagree. Put the pencil down and just try to enjoy the game. I know it's frustrating, but if you get so worked up about one player it is hard to just enjoy advancing in the tournament. Surviving and advancing is a big deal. We did it, take a deep breath, try to relax, and enjoy the win.

Hell of a win Vols. Team looked good all the way around. :good!:

Thats the way you represent.

I thought Bone was solid as well, he hit a big 3 in the first half, and battled down low, the guy and 4 rebounds in 9 minutes, and had a big rebound and put back for an and 1 when Ohio was making a little run in the 2nd half.
