The Recruitment of Jalen Ramsey

I really think DD & staff aren't losing any sleep over this one I think they really want todd kelly jr & the berry twins in 2014

They should honestly have those Vol legacies all but committed, if not committed. I'm a bit surprised that Kelly Jr. isn't committed right now.

Or....at least give Vol fans the impression that he has thrown the kitchen sink at all three of those guys.

I'm saying that if he doesn't lose sleep over every recruit lost (especially in state kids) regardless of who the said recruit is lost to...then he is not competitive enough to be an SEC coach.

Over reacting. This was not about the coaches it was about the location of the Universities. Kid wanted SoCal not Knox

Over reacting to say that real competitors should hate losing? I disagree.

So basically he was told out there that they were full, and we are the defacto school. That doesn't make me feel much better honestly.

I think that you are correct about what he wanted, but he went out of his way to gig the Vols with his comments. Too me, those comments indicated some sort of hard feelings.

quote from Ramsey....

"By far the hardest part was deciding between Vanderbilt and USC"

WTF?? am i missing something? #1 recruit in Tennessee... has TENNESSEE no where on his radar?? Yet is sad about not being able to go to Vandy? good God...

Kiffin and Franklin are the two of the best salesmen in college football. Lets see if Vandy has the same luster after a 3-9 or 4-8 season.

As usual, winning will fix this. We just need to get it done on the field.

25 years ago, yes. Nowadays, BA is a fully integrated institution. I don't know what the %s are but it's probably not 90% homogenous.

sorry dude. I have a middle schooler at BA right now. The area we are and the makeup of the school, have zero in common with USC's campus and the makeup of the surrounding area.

and word is that Franklin knew he was going to USC, but asked him to put Vandy's name out there in a good light to try and boost recruiting.

He was always leaving the state.

vanderbilt---they will be better in football, but never near the top of the SEC. At best, they will be a 7-5, 6-6 type program with the right talent.

My daughter starts her second year at BA this year and will be in 7th grade. My son will be starting 6th grade at BA next year.

I actually think the campus make up is probably very similar. It's the surrounding area that makes it different. Compton is right outside the USC campus gates and there is nothing close to that type of area in Brentwood. Sounds like you've been there but the contrast between being on campus at USC and just across the street from campus is striking.

Go Vols!

If it was about winning NC's he would have chosen an Sec school. You are aware that the Pac 10 has not won one since before he hit puberty right. It was the location and thats it.

Over reacting by realizing that worrying about why this kid went west is pointless. He is 17 or so and thinks he knows what he wants.

Think of it like this... your dad advises you to get the safe economical car but you choose the gas guzzler with no warranty sold to you by a guy that has a poor reputation. Why worry about it, there was nothing to be done.

Not trying to start an argument, and congrats on the kids (have fun with that tab each year!), but USC's race demographic is probably close to 70% minority, if not more. It is a true melting pot. I'd say BA's is maybe 10.

Actually, I just checked. Minority makes up 10% and there are about 60 black kids at BA out of almost 800.

And I see a Blaze jersey, I believe. Just around the corner. Good luck against Smyrna and Donelson!

funny i have hard time remembering last national championship usc got .or that was not taken away for paying players and buying players parents houses.i hope the best for ramsey but he is passing up a chanch to play in sec and at UT to go and ride the pine at usc rather than play very early at UT .they may be a tital contender this year but next year barkley will be gone and then they wont be a tital contender when ramsey gets there .

This is not exactly accurate wrt USC:
Bruin Tries to Explain Sanctions to USC Fan. - YouTube

Just came over to see what TN fans thought of Ramsey and if any of you guys had seen him play for Brentwood. Best of luck getting back to the top of the SEC.

Having lived in the neighborhood this is not true.

He had 3 great schools on his final list. He would have been privileged to have attended any of them. Can we leave this kind of make-believe crap out of it?

So he picked USC in part for the melting pot experience? Seems like a reach. USC is only 5% black but no matter which school he picked, the majority of the people he will be associating with (football players) are black. Most likely he is just a kid that wants to experience life in Southern California. And play on a team loaded with talent.

So you want a tired HC with less than heightened senses running the show. Great take:thumbsup:
