How many like the Black Jersey's

At some point it has to dawn on you that no matter how hideous white helmet on black jersey on orange pants looks, they didn't do it for you. It's about 16-22 year old athletes; not 30+ year old meatballs like me.

I think black pants/orange jersey's might be the better combination, but I've been wanting to see more black on the uniforms, so I was glad to see it.

I think someone a while back, that some marketing experts had recommended UT use more black to appeal to the younger generation, I agree with them.

My father is 69 and he went crazy when they ran out in black. He LOVED it and thought it was a great way to excite the players and the fans. He also coached football for 40 years so what they hell does he know.

Hyams was saying yesterday before the game that he had heard of the fans and students wanting it but he had his sources (Hamilton) who told him that would not be happening. Hyams should see the writing on the wall that he is a tool and the bib overall gang is gone and he no longer has any inside info to validate rumors.

Dude, monster avatar. That is killer.

The Pride of the Southland band has had Black in their uniforms for years why cant the players have it as well. I loved it. I would not want it all the time but different versions from time to time would be great especially for big games. No one got upset over the darn band Uniforms before. Give me a break. :mf_surrender:

I've heard that they almost wore black pants also. The decision to wear black was decided on Wednesday and they couldn't get pants done in time.

It's good that you waived the white flag. You gave up your argument before it had to get blown up.

The local Sunday paper (all the way out here in Modesto, California) said "Tennessee wore black jersey's for the first time since 1922...). I haven't heard/seen anything else about this, is this the first time we've worn them, or did we actually do it back in '22?

If this is answered somewhere else on the Labyrinth that is Volnation.com, then I apologize. :)

I will say it again, we wore black before our school colors were orange. The orange was added to the black jerseys, then we started wearing orange jerseys. if you are getting upset over the black uniforms then maybe you should learn some history.

For what it's worth, in my offline life, the same people I come in contact with that have raised the most cain about the black jerseys are also the same people that said Fulmer should not have been fired last season. I'm not saying that to deride anyone or bring up a Fulmer debate, just pointing out the mindset.

When push comes to shove - as long as there is orange in there and the team is representing the UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, well, what does it really matter? Or let me phrase it like this - would you rather beat Spurrier in black jerseys or lose to him wearing the traditional orange?

Hey. Don't take this as me saying I don't like the black uniforms. I was just correcting the statement. I was all for the uniforms. I was disappointed they couldn't get the black pants done in time, but it was a nice Halloween touch.

My only thing is... I don't want to become a school that pulls out black uniforms for every hyped game.

I was 100% in favor of getting rid of Phil last year.
And....I really didn't like the black jersey's.

You probably need to come up with a new theory.

For a Halloween game every few years, it was fine, but that whole combo of white helmets, black jersey's with orange pants was rather putrid looking.

Tennessee football players did not appear in the now-famous Orange jerseys until the season-opening game in 1922.

for all the people that don't like the black uniforms i have one thing to say. Get over it, wearing black is the best thing that ever happened. Our baseball team have black uniforms and so does the basketball team. It shows everyone that we are finally getting out of the old same ole same ole. and the tradition was broken when we started paying our coaches millions and millions of dollars. . But next time all black would be a lot better. GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what's coaches salary's got to do with uniforms...

Tennessee is in the top 10 in all time wins...

Let me know when

Michigan
Texas
ND
Nebraska
Ohio State
Penn State
Alabama
Oklahoma

Start wearing black Jersey's

We won last night because we were the better team

These ugly jerseys had to be ordered weeks ago. When did Berry and Hardesty talk to Hamilton? Some more bull. Who sent Berry and Hardesty to see Hamilton? Shouldn't they have went through their position coach, then Head Coach. Hamilton is a liar simple as that. And as far as Kiffin and the Vols getting known elsewhere, read this quote from John Clay, Lexington, Kentucky columnist, and I quote, "But there's little doubt Tennessee's punkish Lane Kiffin has purposely pushed some sort of conspiracy theory, claiming Florida and Alabama always get the calls, then taking a slap at Slive by saying, I'm sure we'll get one of those letters that means nothing." He doesn't have to answer to anyone. We'll see.

I voted other. When I first seen them running thru the T my jaw dropped. Followed by a big old smile. Me and the Mrs. were both all smiles after that.

Was great for the novelty. But I only want to see the black broken out on "special" occasions. That said, black pants would have made it truley sick.

Do everyone a favor and go root for another program.

You seem to have a problem seeing how well this staff is turning around the feces that The Fired Coach left...

Of course I understand it's hard to see objectively when you're looking from the inside of said Fired Coach's colon.

Why would I give the first damn what a guy who has spent most of his professional life at a hick rag like the Herald-Leader has to say?
