CLK said he told the team Friday night. CLK had Eric Berry standing up next to him wearing a black jersey under a coat. CLK was giving the team a speech and talking about Berry and said "by the way, you guys better win tomorrow night, because this is what your wearing". Then Berry ripped his jacked off and had the black jersey on. CLK said the players went nuts. He said they were throwing chairs and going crazy.

in the postgame kiffin said he told em about them last night, so that they didnt waste their energy before the game. CLK said he had berry come up to the front, and then he ripped off his jacket to reveal his black uni. they were throwin chairs and goin nuts

hmmm sounds like a greats story but I need proof...

My cousin called me around 1:45 CT (Nashville) and told me that he had just heard on the radio that UT would play in black jerseys. I texted a few of my Knoxville friends and they replied that it had been a topic all day there and that they would believe it when they saw it. Did any of you guys in K-Town hear it pre-game? I'm just curious is all...

I just got back to Johnson City after attending the game...

place was ROCKIN when the team ran out and had the atmosphere i love seeing. Offense and defense seemed EAGER to get out there and make plays. Loved it.

Black jerseys seemed to be very well received. The tunnel was going crazy, and a lot of fans were talking about the jerseys.

Greatttt game... Hardesty spin was amazing, Jackson brings the WOOD at safety. I loved it.

great game, I was there. No one in my section said one bad thing about them. yet here on Volnation we have all these internet tough guys that said they would leave and or pull donations.

Cowboy up punks. TN doesn't need fans like that.

no it wasn't.....which is why you completely missed the point

Oh yeah.... Now I understand. Thanks for the clarification! :fool:

My point was that your point was poorly stated and unclear. That's why my simple logic holds up.

If you're trying to say that there is an emotional attachment to the orange of the Big Orange, then NO S**T!!!

Personally, I think that there should be a jersey change, but all black or all orange is the wrong answer. I think that it should be a combination of the two.
Not like the Bengals, but maybe slightly inspired by their “creative” design.
I must say that while I was born and raised in the South, I have always liked Michigan’s helmets. They’re sleek looking.
And that’s why I think our art department could help out (though I’m sure that would never happen). It’s all about badass designs these days. The Vols need to look more badass.
It’ll help their attitude.
(note: I'm not saying that we should change our uniforms that much--but maybe we should think outside the box just a bit.)

I mean, UT doesn’t exactly have a threatening mascot. A hound dog isn’t particularly threatening--unless you’re an escaped convict or something. :p
I must say that even a gamecock is more threatening than poor ol’ Smokey (I love Smokey, but you know what I'm saying...maybe...).
And something should be done about that.
That's why I fully support a jersey change for the UT football team.
The problem is, too many fans are too conservative (and, to be sure, I'm as fiscally conservative as a person can be). So a "democratic" vote would probably not result in much of a "change." :eek:lol:

nvm I retract my previous statement about "proof" Still a well kept secret from VolNation am I right??????

There were a couple who called it, one or two who claimed to know it who just happened to coincidentally be right, and maybe one or two who actually knew it.

So,why exactly do we need a threatening mascot? Or new jerseys? Neither of these things help win games. And tradition is a big thing at UT if you didn't notice.

As I said--psychology.

If the team wore choir robes or over-sized suits-and-ties over their pads, do you think they'd be very motivated--regardless of talent or coaching?
Probably not.
Remember all of the children's sports films that start out with misfits who can't afford uniforms, and a lot of the time all it takes are decent uniforms to motivate the team and send them to the championships?
I know I'm "missing the point" and that's not "real life," but the concept holds true. The more exciting the uniform, the more excited the player.

All I'm saying is that a more badass uniform will inspire a team to be more badass. Otherwise, it's like being in middle school with cheap hand-me-down clothes while surrounded by rich kids with name-brand clothing--you just feel inferior, regardless of how ridiculous that is.

They definitely should have done the black pants as well...the orange pants and white helmets looked ridiculous..hope this helps with recruits though...im sure it will

if the team has to depend on jerseys to play inspired,we have a problem

I don't think that the point is "dependence." I think that it's motivation related.
Maybe try to put yourself in the players' shoes. They need to feel "new."
I don't know about you, but I'm all for anything that can help.
And if new uniforms HELP motivate the team and help them feel separated from a less than successful past, then they should have new uniforms.
(If they're performance "depended" on the uniforms, then a uniform change would be the least of our/their worries.)

Uniforms had no impact on the outcome of the game, ask Kiffin. We were and will always be a much better team than USCjr. Recruiting impact....wait and see.

I do rather doubt that we would have had such a strong start if it were not for the uniform change.

The key will be figuring out how to consistently turn that first quarter into four quarters and those four quarters into a whole season.
That's the energy we need for every single game, the whole game and all games.

It sounds like the Georgia Bulldog bandwagon might be more your style. Their black unis and helmets really make them look so "bad ass." :post-4-1090547912:

I thought the black jerseys looked awful, UT is orange and white, not orange and white and black. But as long as we win, we could wear purple and brown for all I care.
