The reason we couldn't score

sure thing Chief.....

Let me guess, you were expecting us to win 10 games this year too

Wrong; if you look at my posts, you'll see I don't expect us to have a very good year this year. I have said that I think we'll be 6-6 this year.

But I don't call the players names (such as calling Simms "garbage"). That where you show your lack of class, Chief.

Genetics???? Just messing. I just think our line wore down which limited the effectiveness of our running game which in turn limited the reliability and efficacy of our passing attack. Thus the comment about possible rotations on the Derek Dooley show today.

Well that's the great thing about freedom of speech and opinions....

The reason we couldn't score..... Because they couldn't stretch the field, they loaded the box and put the squeeze on Simms.

Goal of every defensive coordinator ever is to make opposition one dimensional. We started that way.

Does it make you feel better to call a college kid garbage? I admit i'd like another option at QB. The staff thinks he gives them the best chance and i'd say they know more than any of us armchair QB's on here. Grow up.

Simms BETTER take advantage of throwing to Stocker more often!!!! What a weapon and way underutilized. I'll take those 6-8 yard catches all day long plus it loosens up the secondary.

Simms was suppose to come here and be the backup to Stephens, so Bray could redshirt. That's what I believe what Kiffin's plans were.

Simms stared the receivers down in the UTM game. It seems they were unable to correct this in practice this week. It is disturbing to have a TE like Stocker and not utilize him, at the very least as a safety valve.

I'll have to agree to seeing several open receivers missed and there were some bad throws but I don't think it's all on Simms by any means. He definately needs work on going through his progressions.

As for the outcome, the pick six was a heartbreaker may have been the straw that broke the camels back but there were plenty of dropped passes, missed tackles, a bad punt, bad downfield blocking, missed interceptions, bad plays, etc. to go around.

I agree. It was obvious that Simms in the UT-Martin game was staring down every receiver he threw to, and he did it again with the Ducks. If he keeps this up, he's going have our whole receiver corps in the hospital. I just hope he can get his progression skills down before we tee off with the Gators. Florida may look inept at times on offense, but they have an outstanding secondary. However, I firmly believe if our team plays with the same intensity for four quarters the way they played Oregon for two, we win. The VOLS looked sharp for 30 minutes. That’s amazing given the way hung in there against a veteran, ranked opponent in the Ducks.

I wouldn't say he's garbage but he's not even average. I won't bash any player and I don't get why people say put bray in. Bray is not the better qb. The play calling was obvious and I knew when we were running or passing and Oregon did too. I would like too see more shotgun and draws from the shotgun. When we ran the I formation it was either (for a passing play) denarius or zach doing a curl or a quick out. The TE's ran drags and slants the whole time amd it was just too predictable. Hunter didn't get the ball enough and they ran the same lay twice to him. We had better runs when Gooch was playing at center. It seems to me that the offense is either hiding something or just doesn't have trust in Simms. I don't expect to score any points next week on offense of the play calling and Simms tendencies stay the same.

Yeah, Hunter was open on the pick 6, could have been a different game if Simms could have gotten the ball to him instead. . .oh well, Monday morning QBing!

Simms wasn't good in the second half. Hopefully he corrects the mistakes and suprises everyone with a great game v. the gators (i.e. Crompton UGA 2009).

There's alot that goes into a passing game. It isn't all Simms. Give "them" time. The WR will come around. Simms will gain confidence. Chaney WILL find a way to get the TE's involved.

It is what it is. He is a JUCO QB starting in his second game against one of the best defenses in the country with a very young o-line and he is not very acclimated with the offense.

I'll agree on the first part. however, the young line isnt a problem for the most part, and I think they showed that against a big, talented senior packed Defense. Simms has been here long enough to learn the offense, that's no excuse.

His big problems are

1. He does stare down recievers bad... (+1 OP) He doesnt do anything as far as pumpfake or look-offs or anything...

2. The completions he did get were for the most part "iffy" at best. Yeah there were a few good throws, but there were several balls that could have been picked off by better Dbacks. The way he hangs balls up in the air, i think he started doing it more when his passes kept getting batted down, but it was pitiful. If it werent for the great play of some of recievers, i.e. Justin Hunter at the goalline, Simms through that pass right at the DB's back, and hunter went behind him for the ball. Easy pick if he turns his head/body toward the ball. and a better DB will, i.e. Florida next week.

3. He will pass to a covered reciever over an open one sometimes bc he knows who he is throwing to before the ball snaps. On the int, Hunter was back about 5 more yds upfield, wide open, granted Simms had pressure, but just take the sack... Horrible

He looks like Crompton 2.0, hopefully that will change but I'm really worried if it doesnt because we cant sit around on another crappy QB. I dont care what you guys say about Simms or Cromp, from what I've seen neither one of them have it...

Maybe Simms just lost his composure, maybe he'll come back next week and be the same guy he was at the Manning Camp. We will see, I am gonna cheer him on until he's not our QB anymore.

GO VOLS, beat florida
