The reason we couldn't score

It is what it is. He is a JUCO QB starting in his second game against one of the best defenses in the country with a very young o-line and he is not very acclimated with the offense.

They knew Simms was staring down the reciever he was going to throw to. I ssaw receivers open the whole game and Simms payed them no attention, so Oregon started blitzing because they know it's alot harder to get one receiver open and throw it to him than it Is to just find the open man. So by Oregon blitzing, Simms didn't have enough time get the ball to the one receiver he was staring down. Sorry if that's hard to understand.

That staring down receivers has got to get fixed really soon or we will be 4-8 this season. Think it is way too early to call for Bray to start but what bothers me is Simms had at least 2 passes batted down at the line of scrimmage. That wouldn't happen if Bray were starting. There is an old but true adage if you can't stop the dive play or execute the dive when your on offense your going to lose. Seems like Oregon had no problem picking up 5-7 yards running through our line and that gives them a tremendous advantage. We had some nice runs but nothing consistent enough to mount long sustained drives. We likely had more tackles for loss than rushes for over 5 yards. Basically our wide receivers single covered the whole night and we couldn't take advantage of it. Chaney tried to throw more starting the second half but we couldn't execute. Season is still young lets not get our dobber down, time to fix things offensively and defensively. GO VOLS!!!!

4-8? We will not beat Kentucky unless Simms miraculously improves (and he won't). Looking off receivers is not something that can be taught...a QB can either do it or not. Phils Simms (ironically enough) was talking about this last year during his call of an NFL game. I re-watched the game this morning, and Simms looked off his primary receiver exactly zero times.

Season over.

I would like to know what Lane Kiffin seen in Simms that made him think he was a better fit than Cam Newton

this game ain't that hard. who gives a flip if he is staring down his receiver. frigging put the ball "up" to Hunter or Rogers. Just throw a dam jump ball down the field. They are going to win 90% of the time. A receiver does not have to be wide open, he just needs to be dominate over the db.

He wouldn't even have to throw a jump ball, most of the time other recievers were fairly open but he didn't even look their way. He has to get better at making reads and not staring down receivers, simple as that.

I know Oku has not dropped one and he has got past the twenty every time he has got the ball but why is justin hunter or eric gordon or another fast guy back to recieve kickoffs. we need a man back there that can see a seam and hit it full speed, make a couple miss and off to the races. Oku is just not the man that needs to be back there in my opinion.

I've been thinking we should try Zach Rogers back there. To have a little more speed.

yeah i can see zach rodgers back there. you just look at all these other teams and they put guys back there that run 4.3's and 4.2's. if they make one man miss, they are gone. i am not the coach and i guess they know what there doing. maybe he is the best we have?

How about giving Oregon some credit! They are very good and well coached. We did not throw over the middle. Those are the reasons we couldn't score. GBO!!!

Poole is our biggest playmaker right now because we need G JONES in order for D MO to be effective. As for kickoff return I've noticed that oku slows down once he gets the first 20 yards but he does give us good field position.

Oku is too small and too slow. Same as last year.

We do need to get the passing game going one way or another. I don't want to jump on the 'put Bray in!' crowd because that may not be the answer just yet, after all the 2nd string QB is always most popular.

If we can get passing going, then it opens up a lot of things such as even more holes for the running game and converting 3rd downs.

Jones being out hurts a lot. Does anyone know serious Luke stocker's shoulder is. Simms definitely needs to learn how not to stare down at receivers. Someone needs to ask Dooley this during volcalls.

You got that right. Bray should of played 4th quarter, especially if you are still going to hand the ball off for a full quarter

I think CDD is desperately trying to get Simms into a rhythm with the offense, unfortunately its taking a while.
