Starting in 2011, the NFL will institute a rookie salary cap, which will reduce the amount of the contracts and signing bonuses. If EB were to stay at UT for his senior year, it would cost him mucho dinero. I believe Eric would love to be a Vol next year, but this is the reason he won't. We will see a mass exodus to the "league" this year to beat the coming cap restrictions.

There will be a lot of players leaving early across the country because of this, a lot of heartache for college fans.

I think this was established many moons ago..... I thought there would be a compelling reason to view this thread, but there isn't....

New cap goes into effect after this coming draft. Do your homework.

I could find no compelling reason for you to respond, either. Since you are so disappointed, I don't suppose you will respond to this either, huh? ROTF---:)

Could be wrong but I think I heard that the Cap for rookies in 11 isn't for sure yet. What do the players say about this? (Their spokesperson)

Leaving you guys to %itch and moan. Visiting the bammer site-----friendlier over there. Get over yourselves.

Don't take it personally. Those who talk smack to people on message boards are the ones who could never say a snide word to someone in person out of fear. Or maybe they're just pricks regardless.

Advice though. Come here for the info and the info only!

Agreed, Berry is gone based on the possibility of a Rookie Salary Cap. The NFL cannot just institute a rookie salary cap. This is part of the new collective bargaining agreement that will be discussed next year between players/owners. If the cap is instituted it will be part of that agreement which has to be approved by the NFL owners, NFL and the NFLPA. And we all know how these discussions have gone in the past. Having said that I believe a new CBA will be approved with a Rookie Salary Cap included, but who knows.

As much as I would love to have Eric back next year, I would love to see all these other juniors on our opponents teams leave. Florida, Bama and others. Getting as many of their good juniors to leave would be great because I only see Eric leaving UT early.

Does this help college football in the future? I'm aware of the rookie cap, but just how much of a cap will there be? Always though that giving a rookie a massive contract was stupid ( see J. Russell ).

Maybe in the future kids will stay for their senior seasons to try and be a higher pick and at least get a better payday.
