The reality of next year

how bad will the Oregon game be next year?

Right now I am concerned about Mizzou and Vandy. However, unless we have a drastic improvement on defense Oregon will score as much as they want, and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

If we keep Pittman and Graham I think we should be able to pound the rock next year

As far as I am concerned we are returning 0 players on Defense, blow up this mess and start over!

Not going to lie, I think Hunter is gone.

I'm not as sure about Bray or Patterson. I personally believe Bray is no better than a 2nd or 3rd rounder at this point; And although he's very explosive, Patterson still has plenty of flaws in his game that he needs to work on. I think another year would help both of them tremendously in terms of their football futures.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see any of them leave, but I could see Bray and Patterson sticking around more so than Hunter. And if a coaching change is made, the hire will obviously have a huge impact on their decisions as well.

It's really not that bad. We return a top-two SEC OL and Lane and Neal, plus the possibility of adding someone like Green. Howard and Bowles are capable of stepping up and providing solid contribution. They won't be the elite threats that we have but we did all right with Jones and Moore. Croom, Meredith, and Downs will be adequate TEs. All that is needed from Worley or Peterman is solid game management.

Our D honestly can't be any worse next year and Teague and Waggner will be gone and Bonner, Thomas, Coleman, McNeil and Gray each a year older. Randolph will be back in the fold and we will add Miles, Maybin, and hopefully Bell into the equation. Harris, Lewis, and Bynum should be healthy and enter the LB rotation. Maggitt will have time to fully heal his foot and you should see his production increase as a result.

If we keep Sunseri and the 3-4, that's another year learning the system. If we get a coach worth his salt, then we improve anyway.

Honestly, next year won't be any worse than this year. And we won't lose all three of Hunter, CP, and Bray. Anyone interested in the job can see that.

if the recruiting is as good as everyone says it is, then people leaving school shouldn't be a problem.

the last truth that a lot of people on this board are not willing to accept is that the recruiting hasn't been as good as a lot of people like to think

I completely agree.

We are 11th in recruiting. Even Vandy is rated higher! The NFL will get those guys on this years offense. Poor recruiting will show up soon and the catch up we've done last 2 years will slide back.

That is my point any Big Fish coach can see how hard it will be to be successful. .

Recruiting has fallen this year

This. From what i heard we do not have one person on our commitment list that Fl or Al even offered. I dont follow recruiting until signing day so if this true its not looking good. If you can't beat upper SEC teams in recruiting then reduce your chances of beating them on the field.

We are still in good shape for the #1 RB in the country, Derrick Greene. We could use a stud RB to go with what should be a great OL next season.

I heard he and some others were taking a wait and see and that was back in Sept. To say we are in good shape is premature. There is definately some negative recruiting going on against Dooley that he cant win and is an average coach and if you want championships go to FL ALA LSU AUB and GA.

Dooley has no leadership skills, is an arrogant jerk, can't win football games, and refuses to attend HS football games. That's why he can't recruit.

I'm guessing you started this thread in some backhanded manner to advocate for more Dooley.

Any HS in TN would do a better job, for a quarter of the price. George Quarles could coach circles around these guys. I'm all for hiring the Big Fish ...but I'm even more all for getting rid of this loser and the malaise he has brought to the program and fan base.

Not true, i just dont want another bush league HC, but it is a lot harder than some of the dreamers here that think Gruden will safe us.

We're so thin up with the front seven on Defense that DD wil have to look for a couple of JUCO star players to fill the void fast and hope for new players to develop by the Soph year. If they don't land at least 14 for the defensive side of the ball then the next two years are going to be just as tough.
