Saying Bob is second rate is a compliment to him. He's beyond 2nd, 3rd or 4th rate. He's terrible. Has nothing to do with following John Ward
OK - so we have speculated to the nth degree about a new head coach...let's say Bob hangs up the Mic...who would you pick (and no...John Ward cannot come out of retirement for the sake of this argument) ???
I would LOVE to hear Don Fisher from Indiana U call a Vols game...my second would be Bob Lamme of the Colts...third would be Ken Squire or Joe Moore from Nascar...what about yours?
Faithless fans. Reality check...football is a game. A physical and injury ridden game. Only a handful of teams have the coaching, recruiting, money, fan base (faithful), and luck to be in the playoffs consistently. It took Fulmer years to get there and a lot of all the above. If we keep the rotating door for coaches and don't build a team through adversity, I doubt it will happen.
I've read thread after thread after thread about Butch and his horrific coaching ability. While I agree he is in way over his head, I have yet to see anyone discuss the real reason for the decline in TN Football over the past 20 years.
Ever since Bob "The Blob" Kesling took over playcalling duties, TN has steadily trended downwards. He, like Butch, is in way over his head. He's terrible.
I am not 100% sure of the correlation, but just to be safe, Bob should pack his bags and leave with Butch.
(For those who have a hard time with detecting sarcasm, this is it. However, Bob is awful and needs to retire)
I will say this about John Ward. He did not have the best radio voice out there. And sometimes a player could have been halfway to the sideline after a touchdown, and John is still at the ten. And there were times he may mistakes.
But John was a homer announcer, just like Eli Gold is for Alabama and Larry Munson was for Georgia. Bob is not only boring but he thinks he is still on Jefferson Pilot and trying to be neutral. And that is why he never has and never will be John Ward.
