I can't remember how many times I have posted this but we aren't going to get any better unless we get have a competent administration. I hope this new chancellor we have is he right one and I hope we get the right AD as well. Look at our football and both basketball programs. Until this university gets more serious about athletics this is what we have to get used too. Right now we have "program stabilizer" coaches that aren't even doing a great job at that. All this is starting to remind me of Dooley/Hamilton all over again.

I am glad we didn't hire Charlie strong. But at the time he was a hot commodity. My question is how do you let him say no to you to stay at Louisville. Freaking Louisville. If we couldn't convince strong (which look how awful he turned out) then what makes anyone think we can hire a big time coach

The FB program has everything it needs to be successful from facilities to money and fan support. This is all on Butch.

Why was butch hired in the first place though? When he leaves and looking at our past hires we are just going to hire the coach from the university of Mount Vernon

It's all about money. As long as "butts are in the stands", UT merchandise is sold with a few TV game$ a year, the administration likes it the way that it is. They're looking to minimize maintenance and maximize revenue. Until the money starts to trickle (rather than flow), nothing to very little will be done. If we don't realize this, then we're just the chumps they think we are. Its nothing personal, its strictly business.

This × 1000.. I will say that I desperately hope I am wrong but I told my buddy the day the hire was made that this new chancellor will be the proverbial nail in the coffin for not just the football program but all of athletics.. Now dont take this the wrong way because we will still be competitive but never elite outside of the miracle year every two decades.. This woman who is an outsider was hired on the heels of sexual abuse scandals and a huge Title IX nightmare and it is as much of a PR move than the BEST leader for the administration.. They have different priorities than VOLNATION.. It is what it is and this speculation is coming from a person that believes 100% in the improved APR and "Life Championships" but wants to win Championships.. There has to be a desire for that more than anything within the entire institution for that to occur in Collegiate Athletics today.. Like I said I hope I am wrong

It really isnt on Butch.. Butch is what he is which is a good football coach, an overall good leader of young men and a class act.. What Butch is not is an elite Head Coach that desrves a job at a Top 10 all time winning program.. This past decade plus is 1000% on the administration.. It isnt even on Dooley. Neither one belonged here period

They all turned down the job. Think of a better coach than those and know that he probably would have turned the job down, too.

So you have to win with what you have.

We have a huge stadium, brand new 45 million training facility that include a gigantic weight room (22,000 square feet to be exact), a locker room full of HD televisions and a dining hall. UT players never have to leave the facility.

The roster is stocked with future NFL players.

I just don't see how you can blame the administration for the current failures.

They are in charge of hiring champs on the field. Maybe they offer the wrong ones. But I will say it was bad when CBJ arrived

:rock:Former UT Defensive Coordinator Doug Matthews has commented extensively many times on his radio show from Nashville concerning the UT Administrative problem...especially former Chancellor Cheek. Nothing will be done until we get both the new Chancellor and the new AD in place. Former UT President Joe Johnson was a real factor in the UT athletic success in the past.

Highly competent alphas in the coaching profession will not even entertain offers from institutional leadership that do not have the same priorities or vision for a perennial championship contending program.. A lot of other coaches at major power 5 schools have the necessary resources at their disposal AND an environment where winning football games is at worst of equal importance to educational and moral standards so the end justifies the means.. Nick Saban. urban Meyer harbaugh are not what they are without the "cooperative networks" these institutions have in place

Make them say no. Don't let them leave until they say yes. That is there job. We low balled everyone and are too cheap. Gruden wouldn't turn down 6 million a year. I don't think he was even seriously in consideration

Wish they would use the weight room. Looks to me like they are spending a lot of time watching the TVs. Translates to the field. Many seem to be watching TV when they should be blocking.

Administration needs to get this AD hire right. Where our basketball programs heading?I know our men's basketball program isn't Kentucky or anything but man alive.

No way UT would pay/hire a coach the caliber of Kelly. A hire like that would be bama-esque. It's not what UT does.
