The REAL Derek Dooley

Thanks for the film Mama Dooley. SJT he is bringing in slightly above average talent nothing more. Hell he just signed a runningback from his former high school that is no stars. He is an above average recruiter, but only mid-level in the SEC. Plus he can't coach a friggin lick.

Neither does Petersen... Muschamp or a number of other guys who have been promoted as "saviors".

You are right. There is no proof that Dooley can get it done on the field. Maybe he can't. What he can and is doing... is bringing in talent that will give him or someone else the chance to win big.

And i would have been just as weary with a Muschamp hire. Tennessee always hires the nobody hoping they turn out to be a somebody. I don't think they can afford to continue taking that chance. Fork over the money and persuade a proven big winner like your Saban's and Meyer's and Stoops like Alabama did. Hell Ohio State offered Urban Meyer 4 MIL to come coach. Sometimes you just get what you pay for.

You are a joke if you believe that guys like Maggit, Johnson, Randolph, M Jackson, et al are "slightly above average" talents.

And fwiw.... a team with "slightly above average" talent will give UT a roster with 100 times more talent than the one he inherited.

Dooley seems like a classy genuine human being, but as a football coach he sucks no one can argue with that.

No offense, but what I think sucks are those who won't support the coach. He was rebuilding at Tech and he is rebuilding at Tennessee. It wasn't like he walked into a gold mine of talented football players. I know everybody is frustrated and losing to Kentucky is an absolute disgrace. I am still pissed about it. However, it took Johnny almost 10 years to rebuild Tennessee in the 70s and 80s. It takes players. He does not have players yet. Recruiting is going well. I would have my doubts if it was not. This is his first real class and it is looking like a projected top 10 class. And I look for the next class to be even better, especially if Tennessee shows improvment next year. Tennessee is going to be fine. Just be a little patient.

I'm glad for this posting. I admitt for one I have been very upset by our showing in the SEC this year & loss to Kentucky. However if u read most of my postings before these last 2 weeks. U will all see that I have Supported Coach DD. I just hate that our team seemed to quit alot this year. This video was a good reminder to me of alot of things. So to Coach Dooley & Family. I'm sorry for my actions on here lately. I pray & hope u are successful here at Tennessee.
Let's give him more time.

And sometimes... you don't. I think Weis got a boat load when he signed at ND. Kragthorpe took a pretty good step forward at L'ville. For that matter, I think Turner Gill got a decent deal when he went to KU from Buffalo. IIRC, T Bowden got paid at Clemson. Rodriguez left WVU and got paid.

There are many examples of guys who were up and comers who got hired and did well.

If think forking over the money is the answer in and of itself then you are simply wrong... and as a practical matter UT won't do that right now due to Fulmer's and Dooley's buyouts.

What? You didn't know? The man won us a national championship, brought us back to relevance, and brought in the number 1 recruiting class 2 years in a row. That's why we follow his so blindly. All hail Derek Dooley:bow2:

Why stop at 14? Dooley is going to get us a never before seen 16-0. Dooley Christ is omnipotent. He can do anything! While he's at it maybe he can just run for president then we can say we had a General and a President for a coach. Dooley for president 2012 :peace2:

Yea nice video and all but actions speak louder than words. When you can just flat out coach, no questions about it. There will be progress and it doesn't take long if you are that good regardless of who is on the team. That's what separates the great coaches from the average coaches. If Dooley cant do that then he ranks as an average coach and history shows that Tennessee as a whole has never been an average team. So why should we settle for an average coach? Why settle for mediocrity when Tennessee deserves so much more.

I support winners and if you're not winning i'm sorry but you have nothing more to offer this Tennessee school who is in the top 10 most winningest football programs of all time and you have to go. Nothing personal, I just don't accept average.

Derek Dooley's HC history
5-7 LA Tech
8-5 LA Tech
4-8 LA Tech <------For all of you who keep saying it takes 3 years
6-7 Tennessee
5-7 Tennessee
(.452)

Proof is in the pudding.

He lost to Boise St. by 10 and LSU by 8 back to back in 09. Also, three of the games that season were lost by a combined 5 points. You can't just throw out records and say they tell the whole story.

He is not doing enough to make tennessee Football what it should Be list of players that could change this program around out of NorTh GEORGIA. Mark richt did smart by picking Devin bowman Watts Dantzler Up and the Dream team tennessee will never be wat there possiable to be without A dream Team of there OWN list of 2013 dream team should Be

VON BELL #7 ridgeland High School ATH

JAMES STALLION #5 LaFayette High school ATH

Xzavier Turner #1 Ridgeland High school RB

Derryl Bridges #10 Ridgeland high School QB

Jarrod Beamon #22 LaFayette High school RB

Each one of these players can Turn this program around playing Both ways on the ball mostly defense after Kentucky they NEED these recruits and Dooley isn't even bothering to Look at them I love my Vols butt DD u need to expand these players out or were looking at a nother losing season this year maybe no wins next year at ALL get these Kids on ur TEAM before Kentucky Gets them and takes what the vols couldve haD I refuse to take another losing season were at the bottom of the second all the recruits mite not even want this program anymore butt I noe these are deff committed to your program don't mess this up this is the time to restart this team in 2013 if we lose in 2012 we will lose these recruits small town = bigg talent stallion and Bell are closey related we need more family on this team I love my vols

I think dooley is doing a good enough of job at that without my help.

Not when it comes to rational fans. Ya this season sucked but hes the best option right now. Even if it was time for him to go there are no big names available. So we gotta wait and give him a shot with a team with mostly Junior and Senior starters. Until then you can't tell how good of a coach he is.

Haha I was just about to quote this to bump the ridiculousness. Rivals/Scout/ESPN recruiting may be flawed, but if none of them have heard of any of these guys I doubt they're going to win games for the University of Tennessee.

Edit: They all also seem to be from the same county. Would it be too much of a stretch to think that weknowbest is from that same county?

I'm sure you could get some real nice clips of Obama giving speeches too. Just because someone talks well in front of a camera and says all the right things, doesn't mean they're cut out to actually get the job done.

The guy in your avatar certainly understands this idea.

I'm from peach county GA deff not that county butt I have seen these kids Play and rivals has combine results from the southeastern 7on7 combine were von bell ran a 4:35 and stallion ran a 4:50 I'm pretty sure those two would at least help Vols program stallion wouldve been on espn butt he transferred and didn't play the rest of his junior season von bell transfered butt played and helped the panthers 4 peat region title. Yea I'm pretty sure if these kids get picked up by any other schools there will be post saying we shouldve picked them Up.

my prediction: d.d. will end his coaching career at tennessee having achieved a grand total of one winning season (at la. tech) to his credit.

my other prediction: d.d. will go down in history as the most inexplicable hire by a so-called major college football team.

one final prediction: mike hamilton goes down in history as the most incompetent a.d. in major college athletics.
