The real Baggett story is...

I hope Dooley can pull his head out of his tookis and keep this team on the straight and narrow. There is a lot of promise, a lot of talent. But with SO MANY rumors about the attitude of certain players (dRogers) affecting team chemistry, you just have to think there is at least a little truth to them.

.

Much ado about very little IMO even if the worst of everything reported is true. Rogers is a great talent who was frustrated playing on a floundering team with some upperclassment that he just did not respect. The upperclassmen were frustrated and tried to blame the younger guys... when the younger guys were actually carrying the team. There is almost an inevitable divide between the old coach's players and the new coach's players under the best of circumstances.

The frustration of losing is hard to take for a championship caliber player... and especially when they sense that some have stopped caring.

The bottom line is that Baggett's heart just was not into it. The job of a college assistant football coach is mentally exhausting at times. Dealing with 18-22 year old young men takes it toll on you.

IMO, you are right.

I hate to keep going back to one school all the time, but if you look at Mich State basketball last year, when they were expected to do very well and went in the tank, And then compare it to this year, when they were expected to be middle of the pack, and are doing very well; it all comes down to team chemistry.

Attitude achieves altitude. You cant soar to the top when you have a team full of turkeys. Etc.

It only takes one or two guys in the main playing group to be jerks, and it brings the whole team down.

Hopefully they are gone, and yall can move on and be back to only losing to Florida :) Sorry I had to put that in.

I do think that this team has great potential, I hope they can see more of it rise to the top this fall.

Witch Doctor say hold the phone callers! we have a winner!
Witch Doctor say again this is where the HYAMS uses inference to try to convey there is more to the story than there actually is...like Rucker the other day saying "Why do ALL Vol fans hate Arian Foster". Witch Doctor doubt any REAL Vol fans hate Foster or wish him bad...BUT when context as such ,a reader(like some on here) take it as fact when its B.S.

Agreed...hey its the off season and the talking heads need a job...see the latest fiasco when trying to inform us of who the next DC was....The fact we are discussing this keeps them with a job....and the circle of life continues....But we love it, right????

Witch Doctor say its silly sports season and it ended early with the Knox media sitting home during bowl season.. Witch Doctor say and Dooley dont care if they are bored...lol. Witch Doctor say some of its just they way its played BUT character assassination of a 19 yr old kids future on really made up stuff that HE knows he made up (yes things you do in College follow you as Witch Doctor forever known as one of the people who burned down ETSU homecoming float) thats sad/sick and irresponsible "journalism." Witch Doctor say now he is whining because people question him and his "sources". Witch Doctor say if you report it....back it up! lol

If, as has been reported, Baggett "lost" the receivers late in the season and they refused to play up to their level, somebody had to go. Replacing Baggett is easier than replacing the receiving corps. Something was wrong with the chemistry and it fell on the position coach to fix it ... he didn't.

I don't buy that. The man has a lot of experience dealing with athletes on the pro and college level; I doubt this is his first time dealing with difficult personalities. I guess believe whatever makes you feel Dooley isn't capable of a mistake or error in any way. I guess half the staff wasn't capable of fixing their positions?

I think LWS stated in another thread that there was a disconnect between Dooley and Baggett in how discipline was handled regarding certain players. Maybe he could clear that up if I'm wrong.

there were issues in that regard

Considering who Baggett coached , how could this be worse than dealing with them? I don't think anyone ever could control Randy Moss. Seems like Charlie just didn't want to deal with it anymore. I know you said he was fired and that's what I thought actually happend. But when you look at the list of WRs he coached (not including Moss) this had to be nothing new to him. Maybe he and Dooley agreed it was time for him to do something different.

You wouldn't happen to sale popcorn and update the morning crew on crappy coalfield high school sports in the boonies are you?

I don't see why anyone cares Baggett is gone still?? Hell, he left for whatever reason let it go. To me anything accurate on sports radio and ESPN is totally insane. The Knoxville sports radio is nothing but a bunch of idiots smoking crack, So go figure the bad reporting and soundless bashing of teenagers.

he wanted to discipline Rogers and couldn't. so yes, they agreed he needed to do something different.

I've no idea how he managed Moss. If he was allowed to discipline him and did so to his satisfaction then he didn't have issues with his head coach.

I don't think it's accurate or a good idea at this time to act like it was all DD backing DR, etc, etc. CB could have made DR run on the sidelines the whole practice. He could have taken away small privelages. He could have made him do grass drills while others rest. He could have implemented a curfew. Not of that happened, and if you think DD kept any of that from happening you are wrong.

I listen to those I trust and just repeat what I get from multiple sources. don't repeat anything from one, but has to be more than one. When more than one tells same story, I tend to thnk its true.

I don't have personal knowledge of the situation myself.

Your right, CCB could have done all those things and it still may not have been effective. He might have felt more actions were needed but it was not actions he could do without higher authority.

He isn't talking yet have friend who lives across the street and he was let go but was allowed to retire and the UT way is owed several hundred thousand dollar and Rogers is part of problem

I don't doubt your contacts LWS, but there is always another side and you know the truth is usually in the middle somewhere. I don't doubt that a wr and his position coach got into yelling matches. It's been happening up their since Carl Pickens came to town. I don't doubt that CB got frustrated. I also don't doubt that DD told him it was his job to take care of it, and benching without prior discipline isn't the way to do things.
You also knew that CB wasn't going to be here long anyway, regardless of a DR relationship issue or not.

I am far less concerned with what CCB did or didn't do with Rogers than what he didn't do with the rest of the group. I have no idea what happened with the discipline issues.

I do KNOW that none of the young WR's stepped to fill the void left by Hunter. The WR's as a group blocked poorly.

Jimmy -
Is Da'rick suspended?

Dooley -

No. Da'rick is fine. He is on our team. Where do you get this stuff?

Jimmy-
Did he ask for a release?

Dooley-
What?(laughs) No Jimmy , listen there is no issue with him.

Jimmy-
What did you talk about in the locker room after Kentucky? What were the players saying?

Dooley-

(Angry) Listen Jimmy , I'm not going to talk to you or anyone about what is said in our locker room. Next question. Somebody else.

Hyams gets embarrassed , squats to piss and walks out.

If this is true then this is great!!!! Lol
