does everyone know about the railroad bride you have to go under before you hit Tompson Bowling arena? Well, does anyone else think that it needs to be painted or something? To me, it just looks waaay out of place with the rest of the campus there.

I disagree with the OP...this truss bridge is an excellent structure that should remain the same by keeping the warn down rust covered look. I also believe the truss was engineered by a civil engineering professor of the university....i might have to double check this.

I remember my Brother-in Law telling me when he was a Freshman in the 60's and living at Gibbs Hall, he (and others) would go across that bridge to the other side and go to the Smokey Mtn Market. Besides, it probably does not belong to us and CSX might object.

Granted this bridge is closer to Gibbs, they should have crossed the train bridge beside the Henley Street Bridge. That one goes right to the old Smokey Mtn Market.

man i miss the smokey mtn market. my grandfather grew up over there on hawthorne, and one of my favorite memories of going to UT games as a kid with him were the stops by the SMM to get some chili dogs.....for the walk over the henley st. bridge of course.
