There is no proof that this story about Pershing is true--and if you know anything about the man, and I've read a lot about him, it rings false. He was a by-the-book officer, not at all the renegade type. Beyond that, the idea that the president would send out a message like this is just more proof of what a complete loon he is.

Spanish police say they have killed several people in Cambrils to stop what they say was a second attempted attack after a car attack in Barcelona.

Catalan police said on Friday the situation in Cambrils, south of Barcelona, was under control after they killed four attackers and left another wounded in an operation that followed Thursday's van attack in Barcelona.

Catalan emergency services said six civilians and a police officer had been injured in an attack in the town of Cambrils, which police said was linked to Thursday's Barcelona van attack that has so far left 13 dead.

Police reported on Twitter the operation in Cambrils was still ongoing and urged caution. They said that a bomb squad in Cambrils would carry out several controlled explosions after they determined that the attackers were carrying explosive belts.
