The QB Debate - post South Carolina (merged)

So that would take every bit of 20 minutes to find and report back. If you really wanted that stat you could find it in a few minutes on YouTube with a timer. Stats are entirely more factual than an eyeball test or assumption.
You are the only one making an ASSumption. I simply listed what would make the 2 means more "meaningful". And you are right, JG could have been sacked in 1 second all 3 times. What does that do to his release time?

Vol Nation Creed

Put blind, unshakeable faith in Head Coach Fill In The Blank.

Except when it comes to QB. Then argue for the back up until everyone pukes.

Truest thing I ever read on here. It's madness to think we somehow evaluate players better on a handful of snaps from our living room than those that see them everyday in person.

People overreacting to an article they half read....weird. The point, ladies and gentlemen, is KC was seeing the defense and knew where he was going with the ball in pressure situations. No small secret he has more experience doing so and JG is learning. Not good or bad, just what it is. When given time, both are great options and JG likely has better downfield ability which is why he is starting over KC (disclaimer: this post is pure biased opinion).

Do you guy realize why they blitz JG all the time ? He can't read it and will stand in there and take the SACK or fumble. JG is just as mediocre as Chryst but the eyes say Chryst can run an offense and seems to know what he is doing whether blitzed or not.
I agree JG holds the ball too long at times and isn’t good at reading the blitz pre-snap, and has almost zero pocket awareness but Chryst hasn’t looked good at all except for 2 drives against Bama. He didn’t look good the second half against Bama nor the opportunities before the Bama game. When you have 2 guys that are similar in overall ability you go with the guy that has 2 years left over the guy that’s gone after this year. I haven’t seen enough of Chryst to say he is definitely better than Guarantano and the coaches apparently haven’t either unless they make a change for the SC game.

One was down 28 with no blitz on him. One faced the best team in the country bring all the heat.

Sorry your made up narrative has been exposed. Fans like you are the reason they put that in there. All the JG haters have been calling in the shows and posting about this made up KC strength. Lol

like they know more than the entire offensive staff and pruitt himself.

I will be shocked if Chryst doesn’t start. We have had two passes thrown to the WR in stride this year and both were thrown by Chryst against the best team in college football.

I assume it is because we want to get JG more snaps because he will be who we go to in the future.

Your first statement isn’t remotely true.

Yep. And that stat means that all the idiots complaining that JG held the ball wat too long while saying that Chryst got the ball out much quicker were wrong once again.
So what was his average without the sacks added in? Would say better. However, like I said, newspaper stats are meaningless and usually manipulated to tell a story. These aren't any different.

Seems they both had little time, but KC knew when to get rid of it much better, hurried or not...

Processed things quicker...

The release time must be lower when the D blitzes since there is less time allowed. So, in the scenario you described where JG faced more heat than Chryst, then JG’s avg. release time should be lower, not higher, than Chryst. Maybe JG is missing hot reads, or failing to set blitz protection and/or changing plays pre-snap, I don’t know.
I like both JG and Chryst because they’re both Vols. JG has potentially 2 more years here, so let’s pull for more pre-snap and read progression improvement from him, and soon.

You mean like maybe he can handle a bigger play book

Or maybe the OL blocked better? Or the defense didnt blitz as much? Or there were vastly differenet plays called? Or, the WRs ran better routes? Or JG held onto the ball too long?

The fact is nobody knows. But I think the proof will be who the starting QB is moving forward.

This is a case of he isn't reading and understanding the article. The sacks/ blitzes were addressed. He ia struggli g with reading comprehension. I listed the statistical values that I would like to see. They aren't given. He doesn't understand them.
You obviously dont understand it. It's spelled out plain as day. They got the ball off in the same amount of time. KC was not making quicker reads or getting rid of the ball faster.

Reading comprehension once again.
