The Process

Three of our last four key games have been heartbreaking losses that came down to the final minutes of the game:

Vandy 14-10
Oklahoma 34-10
Georgia 35-32
Florida 10-9

We were very close to finishing 6-6 with a bowl trip last season, and we're very close to being 5-1 this year. The old adage goes that when you're losing close games, you either start winning them, or start getting blown out. These next six games should give us plenty of insight into how far along we are in the Process.

Yep, and that is why this life long 55+ yr Vol fan can look beyond a loss to FL and see progress when others can only see we lost by one point. I suppose I've been around long enough to realize that success is not a linear ride to the top. As a matter of fact, most would agree that anything in life you want to accomplish will require overcoming opinions of those who even though say they are on your side, want you to fail and are at the ready to celebrate your difficulties at every opportunity.

You should also know that processes usually show incremental improvements over time. They are there, however people are only focusing on the 1 improvement (wins).

Improve recruiting; check. Improve team attitude and mentality; check. Improve young player development; check. Improve Defense; check. Improve Offense; work in progress.

Wins will come, it's just that the process takes more than 1.5 years.

While there is improvement in the areas noted only one thing ultimately matters and that's wins. 5 or 6 wins is nice but until you actually show you can run with the big dogs and consistently win it's all just a moral victory. BTW didn't take Malhzon or Freese long to get thru the process.

P. S. I also called FL an opportunity game, meaning it could have made the difference between five and six wins. I was right about it being an opportunity game.

Already calling it and the season is only halfway completed. Nice work.
