Very much agree. It’s really easy for such laws to go too far when attempting to define things like pornography. There’s plenty of drag shows that are pornographic in nature. But someone in drag should obviously have a right to perform in public and perform for any audience.

What I really don’t get is the medical community. If I saw two solid studies saying ivermectin does not change mortality with covid, I’d obviously think “maybe we should try something else”.

How many more decades of unchanged trans suicide rates do we need before we try a different approach than mutilation and confirmation?

Perform not sexually correct... Otherwise nudists would be running around.... Public places that are a family environment have always had a certain level of protection....

You admit the laws already exist. There's no reason to criminalize a specific type of performance

I don’t actually think you’re wrong about any of this, I only think you’re wrong to react. We can’t simply say “x is bad and therefore should be banned”. Especially when x is difficult to define.

The entire reason these issues exist is for attention. That’s why activists first started reading to kids in drag. It’s the entire reason drag exists and I think we are bad to play into their hand by giving them the attention they desire.

They intentionally blur the lines between performance and sex, dance and sex, etc. I think we’d agree on that. But I’m not convinced the best option is to ban it. But rather let them perform to empty audiences

When laws are not enforced by those below who are elected officials...and thru the proper process a new law is made and enforced..all legally this far. Why is that a problem....history has shown I'll get ignored eventually anyway

It's only banned in areas where it can happen kids. No one should be saying they can have shows. Just not shows for kids. It's sad that even had to be said

The laws on the books are sufficient. Targeting a single group's 1st amendment rights is not a good plan. Stop supporting it

They are not enforced by the people who enable thisbtypeof behavior against kids.. so fence sitter. How do we make them enforce laws.. elect one that will enforce law right?? Small government..if the local level wont protect it's citizens then the state should...that's all this is..

So what will make them enforce the new laws?

The state is targeting specific people with measures that won't hold up to scrutiny. That's not small govt in any form

He did enforce the law that passed.. Now it being challenged and we will see what happens... Where in the bill does it say they cannot perform their shows?? And if it doesn't and it deemed unconstitutional thats fine....we are in such a mess now because people haven't taken stands againt things..now we have to protect kids from sickos...when before it was common that all predators against kids were bad. Now y'all defend predators because they hide behind the rainbow flag..

One of these “smal gubment” guys basically shtt his pants when Desantis removed barriers to entry for the teaching profession in the state. So take some of this with a grain of salt.

It's not the governments job to protect it's citizens. SCOTUS has already decreed that.

Plus nobody (other than a parent) is forcing kids to go to these shows.

How do you propose we protect the kids from their parents? Think about it, who's the true "sicko" the performers, the venue owners or the parents that drag their kids to these shows knowing what they will see?

All 3 are culpable. If you are a venue owner and you see a child putting money in a drag performers underwear...are you ok with that? How is this different than holding a business responsible for selling alcohol to underage kids?

All 3 (venue, performer, parent) know what they are doing is wrong and a severe penalty on all 3 will fix it.
