Who is going to have to step up here next year? Obviously Melancon was a big loss for us but we also have Brimfield and Donald Langley. Who else will be in the mix for PT?

When was that move finalized for Brimfield? DT is a much bigger position of need than OL.

Hopefully langley will be the guy we've been missing. We can only hope that last years class has a national championship in it.

Brimfield has to be a DT.. they were thinking of moving him to the o-line but never did right..
he's going to be a DT next year right..
or else we'll be super thin.. with just Fisher, dan Williams, Bolden, and Langley

yeah with the lack of depth at dt, if they switch a guy to oline, thats a huge red flag. hope he is good enough to play dt.

Well, Bolden, Williams, Fisher, Langley, Chase Nelson, and Victor Thomas will be DT. If Brimfield stays he will just add to the depth. Hope he stays on the D side of the ball.

Unfortunately, there is an established pattern. Vlad Richard came in as a DL.

govols182, I have to say that I HATE the fact that UT plays its DT's so small. I had a really, really bad feeling when Mapu was talking about playing at 275 and that was supposedly a good thing.

Fisher and Thomas are listed around 265. Nelson is listed at 251. They always play against guys who weigh around 300 and sometimes much larger.

Fisher is supposed to be around 280-285 and Nelson is supposed to be around the same weight. They both came in as DE but were moved to DT, I guess because lack of depth. Hopefully Brimfield will stay at DT because he has the size and was recruited for that.

UT pretty typically recruits slightly slower DE's and converts them. I think Harrell and Mapu both were DE's coming out of HS if I remember correctly. Fisher definitely was.... and I'd still like to see those guys playing closer to 300.

I agree. Harrell was a DT out of HS though.

From everything i heard about Brimfield in the pre-season practices.. the coaches were always raving about his potential at DT, with his size and strength..
so if their saying this.. then why even THINK about moving him.. especially if he is going to be a Red-Freshman next year.. they should at least give him a chance to play DT

I'm sure he'll end up staying on D.
