Every time the Pride of the Southland Band travels to Tuscaloser, they make a lunchtime stop in Chattanooga to perform. Well, their usual venue, Miller Park, is closed.

Any band members about? What will be the new location? Coolidge Park maybe?...

A coworker just came back from the post office and said there are about twenty city workers in Miller right now, feverishly replanting and resodding. Nothing like waiting til the last minute I guess...

I'll know for certain in an hour or so, and be able to give some details, providing they're any different that what has been posted.

Rumor around my office is that there was electrical work that had to be done then they left it blocked off to keep the homeless people (or shelter challenged to be politically correct) out. It will be opened back up this Friday...I can't wait. It will be my first pep rally since I moved to Chattanooga last December. This is the biggest weekend of the year for me, my office is divided between UT fans and Alabama fans. Go Vols!!

I wish I were able to make it down in time to actually see it..i've only been on the performing side...unfortunately, because of my roommates class schedule, we can't leave knoxville until 4.

Divided loyalties are common around here. Enjoy. It's always a fun lunch break...

Sounds about right unfortunately. That project was only to last two months when they closed Miller Park. Of course that was in what.... May?
This Band rally really would be better if it were done in Coolidge. There is a bandstand there, and a huge field for the fans to spread out on and eat lunch while watching the Pride. And the city for a backdrop would make great photos...

You are 100% right. It was blocked off in an attempt for Mayor Littlefield to get his much beloved Homeless Campus. There were minor repairs made to the park and the landscaping going on now was part of the project. The City saw that the park was deviod of the homeless that use the park as a covered place to sleep and decided to keep the park closed. This was succeded by the demolishing of tent city.

The thing is...you need people to watch the band...and they all work in downtown, not over toward Coolidge.

Unless they have done some changes to coolidge i dont think the bandstand is nearly big enough for the Pride. But then again they dont all have to be on it some can be around it.
