Speculation only:

Yes we have had a semi blotched hire of a coach...but maybe we have not.

If it were Jon Gruden, then all the endorsements and contractual agreement with several companies would continue or not.

Truly believe that these questions have been addressed with the NCAA and they don't know how to govern it or if they have the authority to rule on it. Legally it could be a nightmare and it could set a precedent.

The only reasons the NCAA President would address the hiring of a coach at a university would be that they

1) they are idiots
2) fear what precedent it may set
3) have no control
4) Not addressed in the bylaws or charter.
5) can't prevent the hire.
