They've upgraded. Donovan will still let them play as they wish, but if one of the new guys can play the Al Wilson role, they'll improve.

Returning the 5 starters is a great thing for them, but the difference lies in the production of the incoming freshmen. Otherwise, its a repeat of last season.

I thought we'd be a bit higher. It will be an interesting season to say the least. You never know what to expect with so much turnover, but I'm excited about the new class.

IM interested in seeing Goins running this team. I think UT can win the SEC this year.

I don't think there's anyway Hopson averages 18 this year or his senior year. Then we won't even be able to compare him to yarbrough because he did average over 18 his senior year.

Hopson could have average 15 this year, but I care more about his SEC ppg. If he averages 15 ppg in SEC play, I'll be above shocked.

This team could make a deep tourney run, but there is a ton of variables (mostly freshman).

This whole season will rely on if we have a dependable, go-to scorer. Last couple of years we had Smith and Chism. This year we just have a bunch of unproven guys, really. No one has proven they can step up and lead this team and until they do, being ranked in the mid-20's is about right.

I don't understand how one can mix up basketball and football threads.

cause if you enter the thread through the recently created or most popular section on the front page you dont know what forum it is in :eek:k:

So I take it you missed where it says:

VolNation > Tennessee Vols Forums > Tennessee Vols Basketball

at the top of the page.

You agree with those hat? I do think we'll be 2nd in the East, but feel like we might be ranked nationally a little low. I know we lost a lot off of last year's team, and have a lot to prove, but feel like this team may shock people like last year's did.

Agreed. But, I really feel like there is actually more hype about this team. The expectations are higher locally..... Final 4!!

The Kentucky fan I was watching the UT/UTM on ppv with Saturday was pretty high on Kentucky's recruits. He's pretty knowledgeable, actually his uncle is the radio sports voice of a major college.

Until we show something, nobody's really going to go out on a limb for us. We simply don't know until we see the blend, the freshmen and offseason work show through.

which is why preseason rankings mostly exist to give us something to talk about (and therefore sell magazines) before the first tip-off.

You do realize Ellis averaged almost 18 points per as a soph, don't you? It would have been a great point had it remotely been accurate.

Accuracy has nothing to do with most posts. Hopson isn't even close to the player Ellis was as a freshman or sophomore, nor will he be as a junior or senior.
