The players that is coming back next year!

Except for Smith on Offense the lines are awful. Just awful. That's Jones's fault for not developing talent, but redeveloping lineman in a year is very, very unlikely. Trey Smith is so good so early its tempting to think guys will be ready overnight. That's not usually the case. It normally takes multiple seasons of good coaching.

The schedule is brutal. Realistically 6 - 6 is a good year. If Pruitt does better than that, he's the steal of the coaching race. If he does that or worse its hard to judge.

Again, here at UT, we are not only a few years from winning, but a few years from knowing if we will be winning.

Jones was unable to recruit OT's.. Lots of projects and players like Kyberson and Kendrick that were asked to OT that we disasters due to being really slow and were guards and got killed by the spread rusher.

Watching Brooks playing RT was painful....

Well it also takes the right players. I didn’t see many on either offense or defense. Maybe they were on the bench. Vince Lombardi would have a tough time getting us to 7 wins. Hope I’m wrong and we make a dramatic improvement.

Truth be told as bad as the previous staff was at player development we really don't know what we have. Sometimes it just takes the right coach's to flip the light on for kids. Just like Kiffin did for Crompton and Cut did for Single. It's all about attitude and want to. We can't have the classes we had and be a 4-8 team. Vandy, Mizzou, SC and UK definitely don't have better top to bottom talent than us.

Yup. You have to recruit tackles every year, then turn them into Guards if they are pretty good but not good enough. Jones kept doing the opposite.

We were never any good with Shoop running the defense. Players out of position and reading the play wrong at least thirty plays a game.

Rarely do Sr's move position and even more rare switching sides of the ball.. He will finish out his career and get a shot at the pro's and that will it.

Not to speak for Ace but I'm guessing he didn't mean he should be switched now, but that it should've been done early in his career.

As bad as this team was last year we know 2018 will be interesting to watch. Again recruiting has a lot to do with results next year. I think most of us are thinking along the lines of a 7-6 season next year then build off that. We don’t know who Pruitt is gonna get here and how they will perform but year 1 is always the toughest. 2019 should be vastly better and so on and so on you get the picture we likely won’t be serious East contenders until 2020 if not 2019...I would hope CJP has this team strong as hell in 3 years and maybe play in ATL then....guess we shall see what he’s made of going forward.

Go Vols!!!

McKenzie may be better suited to play 3-4 NG position.. He's not all that athletic but he's big, strong and can occupy two blockers..

Agree, he’s a space eater with little to no explosion. KMac isn’t a playmaking DT who can get penetration and has to be accounted for by opposing offenses. He’s much better suited to playing an inside technique in a 3-4 and plugging gaps. And, quite honestly, he has to get better even there in terms of not getting blown off the ball at times.

The most frustrating thing about being a U T fan is: The SEC East goes in cycles and two seasons ago was our season. We beat a weak Florida team and beat UGA. Then bad coaching caused us to miss the SECCG by losing to Vandy USC. A&M.
This year. It was Georgia's cycle. Seems more times than not either injuries or bad coaching messes us up when it is our time

I do not believe this is a rebuilding year. I think we lost to Florida MISSOURI Kentucky Vandy and South Carolina because of bad coaching.
That can easily be fixed. We can go from 4-9 in 2017 to. 8-5. Lose to Alabama Auburn West Virginia Georgia and Florida. Beat ETSU. UTEP Charlotte Vanderbilt Kentucky Missouri South Carolina and bowl game
Out coached by Florida. And West Virginia. Too much talent at Alabama Auburn and UGA for us to beat them

Lot of that talent at UGA goes bye bye next year...

0 wins the SEC. Worst record in over a 100 years. Slow down he inherited a dumpster fire. CBJ's recruits are underdeveloped and it will take a little time. I just want to see them compete. In 1-2 years the wins will return.

If you would of told me we wouldn't win a conference game this year, i would of said you were crazy. So, next year anything is possible, we will have a couple of experienced qb's coming back and tons of experience from highly ranked recruiting classes. Go Big Orange!

At some point we can see that Butch did not know what he was doing
Hurd over Kamara. Hardly played Callaway two years ago. Can t get S-burger on the field as a good d b. Plays Byrd out of position.
Just by proper coaching the team will earn three more wins next season. We really only lost. Wolf. Vickers and the punter to the NFL. Other players were not great. Mosely. Martin Kendricks Jumper but were effective

It will be interesting to see CJP's evaluation of the current roster. I am sure that he'll find situations where some players should have been playing, or at least seeing the field in some capacity that weren't playing much or at all. I wonder if he is just out blasting the recruiting trail for the best players available at all positions, or if he is basing decisions on the current roster. Surely, he at least has to know our current scholarship numbers.

Alot of this was the finesse blocking bull crap. It doesn't work in the SEC. A lineman is not going to pancake anyone if they have to think about which way they are moving all the time.

That is one thing we need changed and fast is line play.

Line up fire off the ball and hit someone in the mouth HARD.

Though we do have a blind man playing on our line.

Could be very special offensively and defensively. If Pruitt gets them to play his style, then this team could be very good. This is something that could happen, I think McKenzie, Tuttle, and that defense could be nasty. If some of these recruits he gets can step in depth wise, I’m very optimistic about 2018. Hummmm?? I just thought about it.

Both need to go to O line

Have you watched those kids on defense play? They couldn't even stop a terrible Vanderbilt team.
