The play that sums up the Dooley era

To me it's not an individual play. It's rolling out a completely different coaching staff every year. Every assistant has a different reason for leaving but at some point...you have to look directly at Dooley. Why didn't anybody want to coach on his staff?

6 yard punt in yesterday's loss to the Cocks.

I mean, seriously. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that at any level of the game. Hart better get this next hire right... Good lord.

Dooley's our punter????

Yeah that's a problem.

Or maybe he just said "ok new game plan, punt for 6 yards!"

....... stupid fanbase is stupid

The kick in the miss st game where our players just stood there like it was a punt. That is one of the most fundamental things in football. Get on the damn ball.

Did you even read the thread? We're obviously talking about examples of player execution, or lack thereof, that sum up what we've seen for the last 3 years. Dooley is ultimately accountable for how the players execute.

Go put your dunce cap back on and sit in the corner. Talk about stupid fan base...

We all can point to specific plays and blame DD for poor coaching or lack of execution but in summary he just lacks that intangible something that gets his team the win. Sometimes it’s a play call, sometimes it’s an officiating call, sometimes its’s execution, or a combination of these. There's a dumb show on TV called a Thousand Ways to Die; you could easily put a "Lowlight" clip together for the DD era Vols called a Thousand Ways to Lose. Watching them play you just have this sense that it's inevitable they will find a way to lose the game. Of course the only play Clowney makes all day forces a fumble that of course rolls between the legs of a couple of Vols and of course USCe finally falls on; and of course in the most critical part of the game we don’t double or chip Clowney. It’s like watching a James Bond movie. No matter the plot line you know who wins in the end.:ermm:

It didn't have to be any play for me. If Dooley goes up against a ranked team or HC with a history of success we are going to lose. Let's face it Dooley isn't out coaching anyone that matters.

You know what, I like the man and I wish he could have been a winner. The play that summed up the Dooley era for me was when the Vols came out in a salute to Lattimore. I was proud to be a Vols fan. Sometimes winning isn't everything.

You guys have to short of memories. Reminds me of Chief against Florida about 10 times... maybe 8 the other 2 were 4th downs.

Spurrier. Running the E&H formation for a few series in the 1996 game and Chavis has brain lock.

Geez! You just said it yourself. If any coach has to tell a college player this then I don't want him on my team. This is crap you learn playing pee wee football. That play is on Rivera. You can find plenty of things to blame on the coaches, but this isn't one of them.
