The Petition

So now you're turning this into a discussion about Rupp being a racist who would have hated Tubby being hired?

Solid.

Nah...we were discussing how our fanbases were viewed nationally...I assume you were inferring because I clicked on the petition that I was part of this national outlook of Tennessee "hillbilly rednecks"...so I felt the need to RETORT...and put everything on the table in said retort...every time RUPP Arena hangs a national championship banner,a civil rights angel gets kicked in the nuts. :pinch:

No, the thread is about the petition and what it meant for UT. Nothing about UK. I don't know you, but you're like a lot of UT fans who seem to ignore criticism and decide to sling mud when they have no reason for their behavior. I could care less who signed the petition, I know that some fans (maybe you) saw a program struggling and wanted something done. I don't blame them.

Disagree.

While I am happy with what Donnie Tyndall is doing, there is a right way and wrong way to handle things.

The Tennessee fans who signed the petition did the wrong thing.

Martin was going to leave after this season no matter what. He was not happy how contract negotiations went last year and was out of here no matter what.

The petition made UT fans look like hillbilly racists in the eyes of the media and they are pushing that narrative hard.

The right thing was to sit back and let things take their natural course, as all other schools with class do.

Did you ever read the petition? Based on your comments above its obvious that you did NOT read it.

Either way Butchna, my point is that the petition wasn't a good thing, never should have happened, and overall was a poor decision by the fanbase. One could argue that it has led to the "success" so far. Like I said, Tyndall is a good coach, I knew that when he was at Morehead. But to use this as a reason for the petition being a good thing is dumb imo.

I guess that you never read it either.

I don't know a lot of fanbases that have done something like that. I'm young, so maybe you can enlighten me.

I don't think UK fans ever hated Tubby. We still don't. I would imagine most UK fans still like the guy.

That's because the petition was nothing more than a cut and paste job that Clay Travis wrote. It wasn't the UT fanbase. Someone took it word for word (it could've been Travis himself) and created a petition out of it. He created a mob mentality and it took off. Just like he had hoped. It amazes me that people still don't know how the damn thing got started.

Seems like I was wrong and attributed the hillbilly racist comment to you...it was Tux...Rupp was a peach of a guy. :hi:

We have enough whip Vol fans belaboring the fallacy that the petition was a collective "decision"...the people who clicked on it like myself...took a few seconds out our lives to click on something that expressed frustration at a stagnant program that was playing down to Texas A&M and Vandy!!!...whatever was the motivation, the Tennessee team played lights out the rest of the way...Zo could have built on it...he chose not to...case closed...the conspiracy theories and attempted guilt trips make me even more certain of that few seconds of my life....Zo claims that the petition had no bearing on his decision...why do those that worship at the altar of his feet choose now to doubt the validity of his words...we have to deal with the self hating fools on here...we don't need your help. :stop:

What gets under my skin are these condescending opposing fans that come on here and criticize what we do as Vol fans when it comes to whatever method to voice our displeasure with a coach. If you put Cuonzo in KY blue he wouldn't have made it through the first season. He would have been run out of Lexington on a rail. But mediocrity is OK for lil' ol' Tennessee.

I would criticize any fan base for acting that way. Doesn't matter if they wear blue, orange, or any color. Fwiw, Martin would have never been hired at UK to begin with.

Lol at a KY fan criticizing TN fans for their behavior toward a coach. You're a freaking condescending KY fan that thinks that the level of success that the Vols have experienced over the last three years is our ceiling. Your opinion of our fan base means absolutely jack shat to me and most others on here.

And I am sure that not one of your "Bammer Like" Ky goobers ever said anything except "I support Tubby Smith 100% and I never want him to be fired, no matter how much we lose!"

Super Troll! :the_finger:

They wanted Cal fired this year. There was even a hire Bruce Pearl thread on Catspause.

That is so unbelieveable.... I signed the petetion (wish I had started it) Not because of race or color except one ORANGE... I got tired of paying good GREEN money to watch a boring game...

At the time the petition was signed we were loosing and looking like we did not care that we were. I love my school and want a better game expeience for my dollors spent than being bored by a team than seemed to give up mid season and only started playing with some fire after the petition was signed.

PS/ I still like Bruce Pearl

That's why UT fans should never concern themselves with the opinions of opposing fans. By and large, they want UT to fail. They'll come on here and act like they really care, but horsesh*t, they could care less, and I really could give two sh*ts about their opinion. If they have one, they should keep it in the Around the NCAA forum. Stop trolling on here.
