I hate standing water in the kitchen sink. It seems that everybody in my life would rather fill every cup, bowl, plate, dish, etc with water and leave it in the sink, rather than just rinsing it immediately, and loading it in the dish washer. From family members to roomates, this has bugged the crap out of me my entire life.

pretty sure it's more common both there and up farther along the map. either way, you don't hear it much in the south....which is why that post confused me. i might be missing something, though.

this too to an extent. i usually just call it by the drink's name.

A friend I used to hang out a lot with my junior year of HS was from Nebraska, and he would refer to a soda as a pop. I have also heard other people from states like Minnesota(god what an awful accent), Iowa, Wisconsin, etc. refer to a soda as a pop.

The term soda is used more in Rust Belt states, I think.
