Don't know why, but for some reason that is funny as heck to me. I can just see the before and after picture.

People like to throw out truisms all the time about Fulmer. Fact is I am convinced he was loyal to a fault. He lived in a "seniority first" world. He kept coaches way past their prime. For every Eric Berry there were five Ryan Karls.

Lane is going to find some athletes in the spring.
There are going to be some surprises off the bench next year. I have relinquished all my doubts about it.

I think our QB play next year will be one of the biggest surprises... in a good way. Also, because its going to be an open competition, there will be a few guys popping up and getting playing time that were previously buried.

Our outstanding 2007 recruiting class is going to be very heavily relied on the next 2 years. The 2007 class will probably contribute as much as the 2006 and 2008 classes combined.

I remember hearing the same "anti-QB" sentiments direced towards Ainge after his sophomore season. Amazing what some coaching did for a previously down and out player. Crompton was very highly regarded coming into Tennessee, and he still has the physical tools. BJ was also reasonably well-regarded coming in... and apparently QB guru Cutcliffe's guy. Maybe Kiffin can make one of those guys the phoenix.

We all know it's not the QBs that were the problem this year.

Think back to the UCLA game and remember how many times you screamed at your TV -- "RUN THE FN BALL!"

My opinion is that our QBs never bought into the system. Clawson was too much of a cerebral guy -- he was just too much "thinking" and not enough "our badasses will beat your badasses."

I like Clawson because I respect what he's done as a professional, but he and his system were just not a good fit here at TN -- our team suffered because of it.

Why are there post saying what Cut did to Ainge? Are you trying to say Cut could fix Crompton? If I remember correctly Cut said he thought Coleman should be our QB. Not JC.

What the hell is up with this hope that Crompton will pull an Ainge? Ainge's problems were discipline related, on and off the field. Crompton's are in between his ears. He's not smart, and it was painfully obvious even in his best game this year.


Stephens has just as much of a shot, if not better positioned. B.J. can grow into a decent QB, but if Crompton sees another snap anywhere other than TE, something is very, very wrong.

what about from the bench?

By the way I am with you...Stephens gets my vote. I liked the fire he had, and he looked to me like any first time starter would. He made mistakes sure, but nothing that can't be fixed...As far as Crompton goes I think Ron White says it best...."you can't fix stupid"

Is Aaron Douglas still on the team? Nick Saban wanted him badly last year and would have played for the Tide this season (IMO) barring injuries.

Whats wrong with hoping different coaching in a different system could bring out a different result in Crompton? I could care less if he, Stephens, or Coleman is our man, I just want one of them to blossom.

Ainge's problems on the field in 05 definitely had everything to do with what was in between his ears.

You mean when we had 2 1,000 yard rushers for him to lean on and when Randy Sanders signaled the play to him from the sideline before every snap? The one game Ainge was leaned upon to carry the offense he failed miserably, completing more passes to Junior Rosegreen than to any Vol.

His performance in 04 doesn't mean his problems in 05 wasn't because he went batsh*t crazy in 05.
