The PB&J Postgame Report

I caught it when I wrote it and almost put Walker first and JJ second. But, figured nobody would remember "Good Times" and get it. Nice job VF-TX. Anybody else think Thelma was smoking hot ? Her, Jeannie, Daisy Duke and Chrissie will always have a special place in my heart and pants as a 13 year old horny kid watching reruns after school and before Mom got home after work

I have a hard time believing Barnes really thought he needed to ditch Bone and Turner. They showed promise early on IMO. Even if others didn’t see it.
My guess is he didn’t say those exact words, probably said he needs better point guard play, but I don’t think he was saying he needed to get rid of them.

He was talking directly to his players....they play UT again very soon.

And he was trying to sew discord in the enemy as well! He knows they face UT in a couple games and he wants to steal one back. He hasn’t quit or lost the drive - he is pulling out every trick he can to win the next one!

Art of warfare!

Go Vols!

I thought their big guy Kats or something close to that really battled. Obviously not to the level Martin wanted. The guy with the wild hair was a no show

Not so quick to say he’ll bring a title to Columbia now are ya?

Watching that I can’t help but feel like he’s lost his fire, he’s frustrated, and he’ll be looking for a way out if it doesn’t get better quick.

Good job tonight Vols. Handled business.

Wrong. He brought a title to Columbia last night. And that Title came thru like a orange Cat4 tornado. :p

As gruff as he appears at times, hes actually a very polite guy.

Got the chance to meet him at a preseason practice the year they made the Final 4 run. Once he blew the whistle to start practice that demeanor totally changed.

Interesting. I understand he was a high school math teacher when he first started coaching. I've admired his coaching style. Tough and direct. Also remember that he couldn't stand John Currie when Currie was at K State. Thats a plus in my book.

I forgot about him and Curry! CFM just moved up to my #2 favorite coach. Anybody who hairlips that corrupt stiff in suit is already good in my book.

He was very cordial and friendly to me and had no reason to be considering we didn't know each other and he was 20 mins away from starting practice. He talked to me and my friend (a former gamecock bball player) right up and until practice started.

Last nite Im watching the game and remembering him dogging Silva the entire practice and at the time thinking this kid is a great athlete but a very average basketball player. He's done a great job with him. "Tough and Direct" (on the floor) is very accurate.

He’s a good coach, and absolutely knows the game. He’s frustrated because he had a good plan for the game, and lacks the players to execute it. With the exception of Silva, we probably have 7 players better than their next best player....you are going to lose that game in all but the biggest fluke night ever.

I honestly thought USCjr played a good game for their talent level. Their relative inexperience showed in the last 10 of each halve when they just could not match the pace any longer.

Frank is a good coach...he’ll get things figured out there.

He’s going to his 7th year with USC and will miss the tournament for the sixth time. That is poor

Barnes does many things to help motivate his players. This might have been another motivational tool.

Frank Martin took his team to Gainesville and Nashville as heavy underdogs and came away with Ws.. He's forgotten more basketball than White and Drew have yet to learn.

Never forget that he recently took South Calacky to the Final Four. I mean...c'mon.

If Rick Barnes made one tourney in seven years would you say he’s a good coach?

In 2017 he lead USC to its first NCAA tournament since 2004. They won their first tournament game since 1973 (46 years) and he made it to their first ever Final Four, something that Frank McGuire could not do. They went 25-9 in 2016 and got jobbed for a spot in the tourney. Also, he led KSU to 4 NCAA appearances and an Elite 8.

He is a very good coach.

I think Frank Martin is a pretty good coach. If Currie didn't run him off from K-State he might still be there, and having more consistent success than he's had at South Carolina.

Let's just be real about their Final Four run - it was a complete fluke. It can happen in basketball. They were good by their standards that year, 12-6 in conference, but they weren't even playing all that well towards the end of the regular season. Got bounced in the SECT quarterfinal by a very mediocre Alabama team and went 3-6 in their last 9 games before the NCAAT started. Then they just went berserk in their 5 tournament games.

Such a fun team to watch. The players are great representatives of UT. Sure hope they cut the nets down in April!
