The pass that was picked was way too slow.

why was it bad? if it wasn’t open all joey had to do was throw it away. the call had to be something quick because a sack ends the half. bama knew that and was prepared to jump the route. good play by them, but if it wasn’t open joey has to throw that away. i actually like the call
I’d have rather had our best receivers on the field for that play…from that formation we should have just run. That play works if the DBs bite on the run which they weren’t going to do…

Throw it to the outside is the ideal location but there’s no guarantee Kitselman would have caught it. Especially last night. Woof.

Kitselman has proven to be average at best. Low catch radius and unathletic.

It was a terrible, pre-spripted pass. He didn't pay attention to the db and Heupel probably said, "get it out quick".

It went from probably going in at the half near even to down 16 just like that. Add the safety and the offense basically created the difference in the game.

The defense wasn't stellar but the offense was disappointing even if we only stick with the turnover angle by itself.

Agreed. I'd rather us run three straight times and take the 3 points. Or at least a slant in the end zone.

Did not like the play call.

I don't mean to pick on you but some of these posts aren't well informed. We couldn't run 3 straight times because we didn't have enough timeouts. That still does not excuse the play calling and clock management. Perhaps if Aguilar put the ball where only Kitselman could catch it then we take the 3 points. Instead it was low and inside.

It was never open. One defender almost knocked it down. The other one picked it. Should have been thrown into the cheerleaders. Play the next play. But they did say ole boy was a risk taker..... 🤔
He’s been extremely reliable all year. Almost every pick he’s thrown before that one can be attributed to the intended receiver. He got the risk taker label because he played on some really bad teams and had to take a lot of chances trying to come back from multi-TD deficits every game.

I'm not sure I agree it was a bad play call. Announcers said the whole world knew we were throwing, but was it a forgone conclusion? Perhaps Joey was to make the read at the line, based on defensive alignment. At least it gave us the option of passing or running. He just chose the wrong one.

I just know that 14 point swing changed the whole game. That along with two more first down drives inside the 5 yard line with zero points.
You get stopped and come away with nothing, that’s pretty devastating. Pretty much no chance Heupel was calling a designed run there. If we’d had a timeout, sure.

I think you start the series at the goal line with a pass. Then you still have two timeouts in your back pocket that you can run or pass on. The run play on first down boxed in the play calling.

That play was doomed before the ball left Aguilar's fingers. The entire sequence of play calling, clock management and timeouts were just awful. And I think the stage/moment was a bit too big for some players and coaches. I didn't expect to win, but I at least hoped we could put up at least as good a fight as Vandy gave Bama. Just disappointed at how we played more so than the loss.
With 10:30 left in the first half, Joey produced a very nice scramble down to around the 2yd line, where he was met head on by two Bama boys and that was a very dangerous hit on Joey. If you watched closely last night or on playback this morning, he was clearly stunned, stung, or even mildly concussed. Even still, managed to get the first TD on a nice strike to the end zone. However, as time passed, it seemed to me that Joey was clearly in a haze (or Hazel), which resulted in the disastrous pick-six as the end of the first half. Overall, the OC and HC called a bunch of terrible plays, but our guys kept fighting to the end. Competition sports is a zero-sum activity. Yin and Yang We still have a lot of football ahead and we can still control our own bowl destiny for this season. Joey is a fine pick up after the Nico carnival. I would not want Nico back at any discount.

We showed the play in the alignment. Jumbo? Really? DeBoer called timeout because he saw it. Then we stayed in the play. Heupel telegraphed the call, Joey looked down the throw, and they took it like a cookie from a baby. It was bad all around.
I can't be the only one who didn't even look at the formation, just looked at the game situation, down and distance, and knew it was going to go to Kitselman.

And the announcer got one right, here, saying that the throw has to be long, not underneath, to avoid the possible interception.

Well said. Just the lead up to the play itself was like watching a baby deer on skates. As crazy as this sounds, it was as if the entire staff and offense wasn’t sure about what to do next.

Just look at the formation and personnel. It was doomed to fail in that situation. I swear I had thoughts of previous games where we give up a td on a turnover right before the half. We have to hold that record.

Kicked the ball out of bounds. Receiver made contact . Bad play calls. Never have I ever seen a team so capable continue to lose games or beat themselves. The Florida Vanderbilt Oklahoma games will be hard to win. However there is talk a three loss SEC team has a shot at making playoff but why push it. I think we have the team but we must quit folding under key times. The punter played an excellent game.

Because everyone and their ****ing mother knew you weren’t handing the ball off.
