The One Thing That I Can't Get Out Of My Mind About The Passing Game

The only reason Pruitt is being so stubborn about JG is Harrison Barnes...in my opinion. Feel free to differ.

If either of the backups come in, earn the starting job, and succeed it will hurt our chances of landing Barnes. Neither one of the backups may be better than JG, but CJP cannot take a chance that they are.
Actually this is a thought provoking post. I will not differ, as I have no knowledge otherwise, but your point regarding Barnes is worth considering.

I have no information to back it up...it’s just a feeling. It’s been done before in recruiting. A freshman or redshirt freshman taking the QB job would pour cold water on the immediate playing time sales pitch.

Like I said, just my opinion.

We may not even score a td against fla. if jg still qb. They gona stack the line and dare him to throw. And stacking the line will stop most any rb.

What...are you talking about son, JG will come out and throw for over 21 7/16” against the Gators, with only 2int’s and 1 pick six.
We’ll run for almost 20 1/2yds only losing 2 fumbles ( we had 3 but recovered 1)
By the end of the game, Florida will be ready to throw in the towel from exhaustion of running up and down the field and scoring, it will be a tough day for the Gators Aight

Bring on de alligators & Fellipe too

Harrison Bailey, not Barnes. You definitely got me thinking though.

True! But if Warrior makes the tackle at midfield.....game over..
If the offense scores like it should in regulation, it’s never close enough for it to matter.

What came first, the chicken or the egg, and does it really matter?

Uhhh, does everyone remember how poor ole Johnny 'Third Down' Chavis gave away game after game? How did that keep happening? He kept using the prevent defense to prevent us from winning. Same thing happened to us against BYU. Before they even snapped the ball on that play I said that I hoped we rushed six. No we didn't so there was time for the QB to drop back, drink a glass of iced tea, look at his fingernails and then unload a long pass. There is not time for the QB to do that if you will bring heat. There is much less chance of offensive success if you rush six and drop five verses going into a prevent. Have seen it time and time and time again watching football over 50 years. Anyone want to guess what will happen the next time we go into prevent??

It pretty clearly shows one of two things.

1. The coach(s) don’t trust the passing game.
2. The coach(s) want a well established run game.

Both could be true or just one. Regardless, this team has not been prepared or capable to get the passing game going. Draw whatever conclusions after.

I haven’t thought about this, but it does fit. It’s awfully hard to watch, though.

If it was open all game and we only tried it once then that's bad coaching.

So who is to believe this coaching staff when they say JG is the best QB we have?

I'm not buying it. These coaches are laughable. And someone needs to lose their job over this.

The point is the coaches were trying it. Over and over. Chaney called those routes over and over and they were regularly open. But, JG did not make the throws. It was not the coaches. It isn't Xbox. They can't decide where the QB throws the ball. Further, the deep balls he did throw had no touch whatsoever.

He’s keyed in on the primary receiver running a crossing route here (again) . He should see that they were again in cover 3 and the FS is in the play with LBs underneath. They were in Cover 3 all night. He should’ve known he couldn’t make that throw . Not then, not next game, not ****ing ever. It’s not there .
He doesn’t even look right and actually this time making the check down is the right decision or going to Palmer on the sideline whose defender has already slipped.

Now you can say that this is just one instance and that I’m cherry picking, but it’s not. This is just another example of JG not seeing the defense. He never looks comfortable out there. You could even tell when Chryst came in last year, he at least looked more settled . I think it’s a lights problem for JG. When the lights are on he just freezes up . He needs to just go play and not think.

This why you can't say it's because there have been too many OCs come through. Palmer ran a hitch route. And a hitch route is a hitch route is a hitch route, no matter which OC is calling it.
