When CPF decides to retire....does our new coach automatically get a 10 year contract and if so will he be held to the standards that Kermit laid out for Phil? Will we have to wait until year 9 to see if he meets expectations?
Or were these standards of excellence for CPF only?

Surely MH wouldn't lower the expectations for the program just because we got a new coach. Especially, if we are lucky enough to get a big name coach with prior excellence at the collegiate level. I would be more inclined to think the new coach would get around a 5 year deal to start giving him a chance to recruit and coach his own players. Although a lot of the contract's length would probably be related to the cost of the coach.

Hopefully someday we'll find it.....our rainbow connection.
Why are there so many
Posts about donuts
And how many Phil can eat?
Donuts are pasteries.
That look like a zero.
And that's how many more times Phil will win the SEC.

I dont know. I would think the contract would be 5 years at the very most. Myabe less than that. I guess will we find out sometime around 2030.

Anything less than a 10 year deal and kermit will have to change his expectations again.

I guess it could be considered childish but I am really disappointed in Mike Hamilton!

Names aside and even though it will be awhile before the topic comes up I do believe its a valid question.

i can't get my head around, nor can i get worked up about, events that aren't going to happen for at least another couple of years.

i mean, let's not start complaining about potential contracts to evenutual coaches that aren't even known yet.

You are correct....I guess what I am arguing is has the standard been set?

i don't think so. moreover, i don't think it's in our best interests to do so.

we all know the challenge of coaches coming in to replace an long time incumbant. esp one that has been successful, but not endeared.

i look at Mich and Ark right now and truth be known, that's what i see happening at TN when that time comes. that is unless we are willing to toss around some serious bank.

anyway, i don't want to buy in to what MH says about this job not being as attractive as many of us think it is, but i do recognize that if Mich can have two guys basically say "thanks but no thanks", the same can defintely happen to us, esp considering how similar our situations are/were with our HC's.

the old addage of "be careful what you wish for you might just get it", well in the case of Mich, and potentially us, it would be prudent to consider......what is it we are wishing for......that CPF just be gone, or that so and so becomes the HC? I think it's pretty apparent that Mich had NO plan B. I hope MH is paying attention to what is transpiring in Ann Arbor.
